I understand completely about the file size believe me but they wanted me to do the first one like this. Once we are granted permission to use SU I will look into using textures in a lot more things even like the roof and wall panels. I also understand that the screw is not prefect by no means but it’s all I was able to do in the time I was allowed. I wish there were a screw dynamic component likes the bolt component I was able to fine and use in this drawing. Maybe with time and a lot of reading I could try to take on that one, one day? These drawings will not be used for anything but to help younger draftsmen understand a little more about what they are doing is all and I think SU is way better than AutoCAD in that aspect! We use AutoCAD and its all 2D and it’s hard for some to visualize what is going on in say like a hipped roof or a skewed wall so I said why not SU and their giving me a chance . Thanks for all the advice! Kurts Self Drilling Screw.skp [image: BcCz_1-Scene8.jpg]

I was talking about a plugin that allows you to specify the viewport resolution in SketchUp.

I played an online game (Rogue Spear) for years against a buddy of mine and every time he would kill me in the game he would stand over me and squat over and over. It looked like he was humping my dead body and as evil as that may sound it was quite funny cause he would get killed most of the time by the other players still alive in the game while he was degrading my games body? I wasn't very good at the game but I played with people that were and it became more of a game to them to see who could 1. Kill and hump me and 2. Make it around the whole map of the game and hump me again! I know I know kinda sad but we were kids and we thought it was funny but any way it became so wide spread on the server we were playing on almost everyone was wanting in on it. So I changed my screen name to humpmetwice so anyone who wanted to hump me could easily find my games dead body lying helplessly somewhere in the game and have their way with it. The name stuck plus you never have a problem registering anything with someone else already having your name!

Just to let you know, I did an architectural renovation to a metal building as a real project. Although I was less interested in the deep detailing, like fasteners and gusset plates, and more in the massing of the existing structure, as it affected my additions and modifications, I used the simple Sketchup toon shading in order to present my ideas to the client/ user. These presentations were very helpful in developing and explaining my design. It also helped me to determine how to draw the required CAD drawings. But your premise about the usefulness of Sketchup in the metal building industry is right on.

I agreed with fanka but there is biggger problem. SP recognize your bolt and nut as a "ball" shape, not the way they looks. collison area is the problem. search with the word on this board. In fact, it is very hard to make a body with complexs and concave shape in SP. For example, if you model a car in sketchup, not with sketch physics tools(box,cone..etc),SP recognize it as simple 'box' shape. [image: VW31_c1.JPG]
