    • RE: 2 point perspective photomatch

Malaise OOPS, Free Agent, Well, finally got around to giving photomatch a first try. OK, if you look at the perspective lines when they first display, they are in 2 point perspective. The problem for me was to easily match the yellow horizon line to the photo horizon, without twisting the grid too far out of shape.

One way, perhaps not the best (but the easiest for me) is to place the photo horizon in the center of the photo before opening it in sketch up. Also, this worked for me. See "Creating a 3D Model to Match a Photo". First set the origin, then adjust the red and yellow axis, making sure that the blue axis returns to vertical (2 point perspective).

    • RE: Lights Please

Not an expert in this, but if you are thinking of light coming out of the window, I would place a wall behind the window (on the inside), and use a non-directional light on the wall.

The curb that Solo is referring to is the vertical yellow object between the road and the sidewalk. The perspective gives the impression that it is almost as tall as the children.

    • RE: 2 point perspective photomatch

Is this of any help? Haven't tried to apply it yet, but the tut seems reasonable. As I said before, it was previously posted by irender.

    • RE: 2 point perspective photomatch

I haven't used photomatch, but since photos are typically 3 point, shouldn't the tool be 3 point? I saw a set of tutorials uploaded by irender that included 2 point application, and will take a run at it this weekend. Maybe after that I will understand your post ๐Ÿ™‚

    • RE: Autocad Import Problem

Semih, It is the nature of file transfer between Su and other CAD programs to exhibit what you are experiencing. If you think of this as a problem, you will be unable to understand and work with importing and exporting files from other CAD systems. It is probably the BO that is importing as two triangles. If you want a square (no surface), remove the BO, then import. If you want a square surface, remove the BO and change the square into a 3DFace then import. Of course, all of this only works with squares and triangles. More complicated shapes will import in other ways.

To help you understand, temp01 is a square polyline, temp02 a 3dFace, and your file a square (line) and BO. Rename to *.dxf and import into Su. If you do not place them in different places, they will be on top of each other. They are components and you must "edit component" before you can make changes to them. You can also edit the files with a text editor and see how the database is structured. Temp02 will not port into ACAD, it is a special dxf made for Su only.

Square polyline. Rename to Temp01.dxf and import.

Square 3d face. Rename to Temp02.dxf and import.

    • RE: Pushpull won't cut window indouble surfaced wall

Dale, What is interesting is that you are having this problem after you switched from v6 to v7. Did you change anything about the way you built the model that produced the dxf? If so you might be able to find a solution.

    • RE: New Component Plugin

Here is a very basic ruby that opens a CadYou page in IE. You can try editing it (simple text editor) to change the hyper link. If you change the ruby name, you must change its reference in the ruby. The plugin was written by the owner of the CadYou site where you can access his stuff. I have not tested editing his Ruby, use at you own risk.

Btw, I've gotten some good stuff off the CadYou site.

Edson, What a prestigious commission. Congratulations! I am not a podium user, how did you create that particular tint on the rendered surfaces?

    • RE: Has any of you sent .skp files to a client?

We do simple animations along with a power point, or printed package so that the presentation is well managed, and the client doesn't try to make changes by himself. Has little to do with getting the design stolen. That could happen even if you didn't give them the .skp.

    • RE: Construction & Working Drawings - Discussion

I find it difficult to pursue LO as a tool to prepare construction documents when Google's stated position is not to compete with CAD applications that are used for that kind of work. Can't tell you how many times in the past I've pushed the envelope, only to give up an application because my use of it was not supported by its developers, or the market place. I still have stuff on my system running inside virtual machines that is supported only through my programing efforts. I am hoping to retire before being forced to abandon some of these programs, and faced with learning new software along with the task of managing file conversion:)

OK, don't know if you can read the address of the flv. I also have a http://esr7kq.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pAx-sLhy5QdmHspKETjg91dQkgf0BB-9Kbdb1gAtkZ7_EFC-FptABnaN_sh_W3d2SproinQTxPjc/K&K.wmv stored there. What I was trying to do was to post videos from my blog files, in the same manner that I do images. Thanks

The message box includes "Flash" as a posting aid, do you know what formats are supported with that aid, and how to use it? My best guess was as follows:
      [flash=height,width]http://path/filename.flv[/flash]

No, Just a reference file I'm using to learn how to post videos. Nagamine is a Shorin-ryu Master. You can see it? I can't.

    • RE: Question about adding details?

Sorry, you misunderstand. For example you detail the engine with a spiked ring, but the rest of your model doesn't have the same amount of detail. Unless, as I said, you want to call attention to the engine. then its alright.

I just looked at my last post, and noted that it was miss worded. Have corrected it.

    • RE: Question about adding details?

This is a question about composition. A good rule of thumb is to detail everything to the same level, unless you are trying to focus attention on something. Unless you are going to add detail to the rest of the model, even the engine on the right might be considered as having too much detail. Good start.
