      I sort of agree with FoXar
      The perspective makes the building look really small. Apart from that its a great model and render.

    • RE: Calling someone clever for VRay assistance...

      Dannyb666

      I've Been using V-Ray now for about 3-4months, so am still a beginner. But I hope I can help, being in a similar position.

      I think you have taken on a very difficult room to render.
      You have lots of Textures, lighting and a lit fire.
      If I was you I'd start a little smaller. Start with the rug, sofa and lamp and perfect the textures and lighting. As you get those right add more to the room.

      Attached is a room I’ve been working on. I use this model to learn texturing and lighting. This image is still a WIP. Heres some tutorials which helped me get to this stage.

      Leather (On the sofa/chair) I havent quite got this texture right

      Yet again I cannot stress enough how starting small and then growing has helped me.
      Good luck I share your pain. V-Ray is quite hard to get your head around. BUT MAN I LOVE IT

    • RE: Which Photorealistic Renderer?

      Hi there Zoom
      I agree with everything Solo has said.
      I'd push for you to look into Podium. Its a great program to start the ball rolling in the rendering world. If you head over to the Podium site you will see so fantastic examples of work done.
      http://www.suplugins.com/
      It’s simple and renders fast. One of the best things I have found with working on Podium is the forum support, which is helpful with learning a new program.

      I have now moved on to working with V-Ray (because of the need of more options.) This is a truly amazing piece of software. But is differently a much harder program to use.

      Can't comment on any other renders, because I haven’t used them.

      Good luck.

      @Boofedlay
      Cheers for the advice. I'll take it on board and when I have some time apply it to the next render.

      @rclub24
      Cheers for your comments. The deatil in the filigree patern was great fun to do.

      @Crazy Eyes

      First of all
      What a fantastic project to work on. Your presentation style is brilliant. I would have to say that the first shot is my favorite.
      Im inspired to model similar fortification on Islands surrounding Auckland City NZ. If your interested here are some links.

    • White House (Updated)

      Hi All
      The word Villa has been splashed around these forums alot recently. This inspired me to model a traditional Colonial New Zealand Villa.
      Would have loved to spend more time learning V-Ray exterior rendering on this (Before posting) but I have finally had a big increase of drafting work to do.

      Crits are always welcome

      Looks great Oli
      Solo's garden pack looks great in that scene. The lighting and colours are spot on. But I think it would look complete if you pulled out Subdivide and smooth and created vehicle crossings (where the driveway passes through the curb to the road)

      I really like them.

      And your right the future of what space craft will look like is anyones guess. I love watching old space movies with their giant buttons and tiny screens. (Go Starwars)
