RE: What's your beginners tip?
@edson said:
the three pillars of modelling well (IMHO, of course):
- work ALWAYS on layer 0;
- GROUP whatever geometry you are creating (in case there should be more than one copy of it, make it a COMPONENT);
- place it on another LAYER whose name makes sense (essential for controlling the model's visualization).
A big Amen to that, I always work this way
My tip:
While selecting different kind of materials for your model to try out looks, don't forget to delete them afterward since SketchUp will remember every single material you've selected, clogging op your model's file size in the process.

RE: Kashino House - Tado Ando
Field of view is changed with control pressed and scrolling [might be alt or shift, haven't used hypershot in a while ^^]
Nice renders!

RE: Work in progress
That is fantastic! Love the way you use 3D and 2D and make it all work
[don't overdo it , it is pretty much perfect right now]

RE: Any sketchup wallpapers floating around here?

it seems pretty good so far. Pretty sparse though.
It'll be interesting to see how people end up using it, and if its going to get any add ons (a la firefox.)
HFM, rather ironically the in built spell checker is pretty good
Sparse is the perfect word for it, don't know when the add-ons will be arriving,
but I hope they all come with big toolbars to fill the spaceMajor plus: Flash work directly

RE: New google browser
They should learn how to spell... Although Mozilla 'Firefow' sounds catchy!
[attachment=1:rq2ch9wd]<!-- ia1 -->Mozilla Firefow.jpg<!-- ia1 -->[/attachment:rq2ch9wd]
Okay, they really need to know how to spell [In Dutch, don't know if the English version is better]
[attachment=0:rq2ch9wd]<!-- ia0 -->Vaakst.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:rq2ch9wd]
*//Switched to English//
Loving the clean layout

RE: New google browser
You can't be serious, the only thing there are advertising with is that you can search and type an address in the address bar. Big deal, Firefox ftw
*edit, okay it can do a bit more than that [wasn't clicking all the links before] but still... No go...

RE: Pushpull on Steroids
hmm, only the pushpull tool I guess the rest of the software cannot be compared to sketchup since it is primarily focused on industrial design and has the right tools for that. I just don't see myself creating a building with it.
Maybe this movie could be linked to the ruby forum with a 'pretty please?' to Fredo?

RE: Blender, baby! (Some questions)
Hmm, indeed not the best word to describe blender. What I was trying to say is, that once you learn the basics and shortcuts you can work with blender pretty fast.

RE: Blender, baby! (Some questions)
Well Blender is a very intuitive program, but you must be prepared to learn. I have over 4 gigs of tutorials and 'how to's and a direct link to the wiki page and I'm still messing around with basic stuff .

Yup there should, but that font does not have that option, just a box. I could change the font and probably should as it is too ... (as goon said) childish, and I kinda see his point, but then again it's playfull and I have a whole section of playful crap and cartoon characters that work well with the logo.
Another option, that could be used as a banner, is to create a logo. The way you use 'Solo's Place' now with multiple fonts [banner, watermark] is distracting. This makes it easier to change a font when you don't like it anymore.
The images are awesome btw; and I love the cartoon section !
But the site itself is too basic for the stuff you put on there.Buy dreamweaver [if you haven't allready] learn basic html in 2 hours and create something a bit more stunning than this

RE: Another ACAD Q- exclude zooms from Undo?
@fossa said:
Go to options-->user preferences then there is a section on undo/redo. Check off the combine zoom and pan commands. I don't know what system variable this is controlling but that should take the zoom actions out of the undo/redo stack.
This was introduced in 2007 I think. So if your running an older version this option won't be there.
Oh, man you're a life-saver... unchecking it now
*Realising that, since the last format I didn't install AutoCad so,
installing; unchecking

It works until you close the file down and reopen it. When you activate the tab it's the same old problem.
Or am I misunderstanding your instructions?Carento01,

I believe it has something to do with having different north orientations on different views.
North is consistently oriented in all tabs so I doubt if that is the problem.
Thanks for your input anyway.
My fault entirely, didn't check that

RE: Vray Displacement Animation
[flash]http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=xQWBCS3XtBE[/flash]
Hmm, thought I could help out here
[flash=640,480:2tnb73wk]http://www.youtube.com/v/xQWBCS3XtBE&hl=en&fs=1[/flash:2tnb73wk]
there we go:
[] go to youtube
[] on the right is a code to embed the movie
[] copy http://www.youtube.com/v/xQWBCS3XtBE&hl=en&fs=1
[] and place it between the code given by remusAnd to finally complete this post: very nice job!
Don't know if I would ever drink tea out of that, but it looks very cool -
RE: The one thing in Sketchup that WILL drive me nuts!
unmark the 'shadow Settings' in scene manager on each tab, activate shadow settings, click around so the shadow will update and voila!
after these steps turn back on the shadow Settings in the scene manager and your done
