      Dear micione, muddpuddle and the rest of the SketchUcation community,

      Let me start by apologizing for obvious flop on our part of not responding to your concerns earlier. I have not been active on Sketchucation for a while and missed this thread, and I will certainly check into our support system for issues with unanswered support questions which is not acceptable at all.

      In terms of compatibility with SketchUp 2014. Please rest assured that we are currently working on it. As you know there were some major changes in SketchUp 2014 and we want to make sure that we are thorough with our development and consequent testing efforts for compatibility. In the meantime please continue using our products on earlier versions of SketchUp. We hope to be able to have a release soon.

      Regards,

      We've got puppies!!!

      Here is Karamel, proud first time mama to 6 "tiny dogs", just shy of one day old.

      This is one of the few lucky shots we got, before she tucked her pups away under some thick bush in our garden where no one can get to, or even see them...

      Hmm.. Karamel ate our door frame a while back 😆

      In her defense though, apparently there was some kind of wood grub or something inside, making this constant ticking noise and eating away the wood. She just couldn't stand it! So she might have actually saved our house from an infestation. 😄

      Couldn't resist 😄 This a great thread.

      Here is our beloved "Karamel". She is a two year old Golden Retriever. She is very active and higly intelligent (figured out how to open the door by tugging on the handle by herself 😄 ).

      She had a boyfriend over a couple of days ago. So hopefully we will have puppies soon. 😄

    • Would you like to try Tgi3D SU Amorph or PhotoScan again?

      Hi All,

      It's been more than a year since we launched our plugins for Google SketchUp. Since the beginning, we have positioned ourselves as a dynamic and innovative company. As such, we continually introduced many new features to our plugins almost every couple months. This meant however that some of our 30-day trial users did not get a chance to check out the later, improved, and exciting new features.

      Now you can do just that! We have reset all the 30-Day Trial versions of Tgi3D SU Amorph and Tgi3D SU PhotoScan that have expired by December 31st, 2011. Even if you have tried Tgi3D plugins before, you can try them again now.

      Here are a few of the later introduced features that you may have missed the chance to try out:

      Tgi3D SU PhotoScan – Image Based Surface Modeler

We have introduced many interesting features since the initial release of Tgi3D SU Amorph and PhotoScan, therefore we would like the folks, who showed an interest in our products earlier, to have another chance to take a look at Tgi3D SU plugins with the new and improved features. It should not be too long before we announce this.

    • New versions (v1.26) of Tgi3D SU plugins have been released!

      Hello All,

      I would like to announce the release of new versions (v1.26) of Tgi3D plugins for SketchUp. We added new tools to Tgi3D SU Amorph and PhotoScan's arsenal along with some minor updates and fixes.

      The following new tools have been added:

      Map to terrain: This utility applies a warping function that transforms the xy-plane to a given target, typically terrain data from Google Earth. It has different options regarding component instances for mapping to terrain; none, translate, rigid (translate and rotate), affine, and full.

      Channel extrude: This tool is somewhat similar to TIG's “extrude edge along a path” except it keeps the profile rotation restricted to the z axis. Thus a horizontal edge remains horizontal throughout the extrusion. This is useful to create roads, landfill skirts (where the skirting angle is specified), or hedges etc. This tool is included unrestricted in the free Training version of Tgi3D SU Amorph.

      Resample path: This utility takes regular samples along given path(s). Along with Chris Fulmer's “component stringer” this is handy when placing lamp posts, lane separators etc. along a curving, rising, etc. road at regular intervals. This tool is included unrestricted in the free Training version of Tgi3D SU Amorph.

      Here is a quick video that shows Map to terrain and Channel extrude tools in action.

      Enjoy!

      @bjornkn said:

      That auto edge-flip tool is very useful too 😄

      Yes, it actually is. Making the edges fallow sharp discontinuities in the picture helps to reduce the size of the mesh, since you can capture more detail with less number of faces. You could achieve this manually by drawing around clear discontinuities or use Sandbox's flip tool on each edge, but now the work is made even simpler for the user.

    • Tgi3D SU Amorph & PhotoScan new Warper Tool is released!

      Hi All,

      I would like to announce the release of the new versions (v1.25) of Tgi3D SU Amorph and Tgi3D SU PhotoScan. The new version introduces the latest Warp tool (previewed here when in beta before). And yes, we finally decided on a name ☀ and called it the Warp Tool or Warper for short. There were other really nice/funny/cool suggestions too (BTW thanks to all who suggested a name), but in the end we decided to use “Warper” as it seemed that it best described what the tool does.

      Warper helps modelers deform/reshape the selected surfaces including the ones inside the selected groups and components. Using the warper tool consists of three basic steps:
      --1. Create a warper, which is basically a bounding box of your selection placed in a new group
      --2. Edit and modify the bounding box inside the group. All your edits including scale, rotate, translate etc. done inside the component will be reflected to the output. If you use Tgi3D tools in modification a preview of the deformation result is displayed instantly during your edit. You can turn preview off for very large meshes if it slows down editing.
      --3. Finally issue the Warp command to apply the transformation of the Warper on the corresponding object.

      As with all other Tgi3D tools, if the object that is being warped has a texture on it, the texture is modified automatically according to the deformation performed by the Warper without requiring “safeguard texture” and “restore texture” commands before and after the use of Warper Tool.

      Warper has six different “Child component transformation type” options that determine the type of transformation to be applied on the selected components and groups.
      -- Full: The given transformation is applied to the whole hierarchy as if the whole
      selection were flat. In the process it may have to uniquify instances with more
      than one instance. The instances are left intact, enabling smooth edits on large designs despite SketchUp performance issue. You can easily warp large designs where you can not even hope to explode and flatten the whole thing. For the other options the hierarchy is preserved.
      -- Nothing: The component (group) instances in the selection are ignored, they are
      left untouched.
      -- Translation: The instances are translated only with an average amount (as
      determined from the transformation on the warper)
      -- Rigid: Rotation and translation only (the amounts are approximated to be
      optimally matching the transformation)
      -- Similarity: Rotation, Translation, and uniform scaling.
      -- Affine: Rotation, Translation, arbitrary scaling, and shear. (this is equivalent to the
      SketchUp instance transformation matrix)

      The following videos demonstrate how the Warper tool is used to reshape the objects.

      [flash=600,481:2boun3bu]http://www.youtube.com/v/w9zLtiExlys?fs=1&hl=en_US[/flash:2boun3bu]

      [flash=600,481:2boun3bu]http://www.youtube.com/v/LsLUfpfoC9Y?fs=1&hl=en_US[/flash:2boun3bu]

      [flash=600,481:2boun3bu]http://www.youtube.com/v/dodRTudzEJw?fs=1&hl=en_US[/flash:2boun3bu]

      The new Warper Tool is included both in Tgi3D SU Amorph and Tgi3D SU PhotoScan.

      We have also introduced a new “Flip if necessary” command within the “Image based Surface Modeler” Tool of Tgi3D SU PhotoScan. This command changes the topology of the mesh to capture sharp discontinuities in the surface. The edges are flipped as in the “Flip Edge” tool of the Sandbox Plugin based on the image matching quality.

      The following video shows the new flip command in Image Based Surface Modeler

      [flash=600,481:2boun3bu]http://www.youtube.com/v/N8saEgCURFM?fs=1&hl=en_US[/flash:2boun3bu]

      Hi Zootsuit,

      You could also use Tgi3D SU Amorph's cross section tool as shown in the following thread.

      http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=39008

      It would be a bit more involved then the one in that thread as you need to get the basic shape first with top and bottom having different geometries, but it should be doable.

      This would be very easy to do with Tgi3D SU Amorph's cross section tool. Take a look at the videos below, you can use your outline the same way we use the picture of the glass in the first video or just create the shape as desired without the outline as in the second video.

      BTW, the cross section tool is included and unlimited in the free Training Edition 😉 You can download it here

      No, currently it is not possible to modify two bezier curves simultaneously,

      No, it is not possible modify multiple bezier curves simultaneously either. If you move the common endpoint of multiple bezier curves, they change simultaneously but I don't think that is what you are asking, right?

      @jorge2011 said:

      Inferencing works with regular SketchUp edit tools, that is, you can snap points in and out of hierarchy by using regular SketchUp edit tools to edit the control box. However we can display the preview only under Tgi3D tools.

      If you are going to do a significant reduction, it may be able to handle 65K but in general it would be a good idea to limit to around 25K-35K polygons. The bottleneck is really the number of polygons after reduction.

      As of now, yes inferencing works, you can snap points in and out of hierarchy by using regular SketchUp edit tools to edit the control box. We can display the preview only under Tgi3D tools though. Snapping two endpoints together creates a singularity, we are not explicitly handling that.

      Thank you all for your kind words.

      This is actually just one tool with tons of options for components, and yes it will be integrated into the free version (with some limit). For the option (affine) in the first video we had things like snake/fish scales in mind. The full option uniqufies the instances in the selection but still much faster than fully exploding all the hierarchy. Looks like we fixed most of the issues, still testing...

      BTW, any votes/suggestions for the name are welcome, we still cannot decide what to call it "warp", "remorph", "mould" or ?? tool.

      cheers
