Great that you figured it out. Start saving for a new laptop!

16 gb will help but not sure you'll see any drastic difference

I was assuming that SU 2017 Make had been previously working on Bryan's computer and since nothing has changed with 2017 something on the PC has. This would suggest that the intel card is capable of running 2017, but the driver could be the issue.
Oh I totally agree. I was just saying that a dedicated card would be a better answer if he can add one on. I just don't have a lot of experience with on-board cards as I don't use them and haven't in a long time..well since Win7

It's a shame when some one has a good PC except for the on-board shared video solution

RE: Win 10 has made SU 2017 very slow - fixed
Honestly your problem IS your Intel graphics card. If you have a desktop the easiest solution is to see what dedicated graphics you can afford to install. An Nvidia GTX 1050 is about $160 at Newegg.com again if your PC has the open slot and power supply to run it.
If you have a laptop then you need a better laptop with a dedicated Nvidia graphics card.
My desktops with Nvidia cards have NEVER had Windows 10 automatically update their drivers, ever. My Windows 10 desktop at the office is up to date but my graphics card is still running driver 430.58 while current driver is 451.77 at Nvidia website. All my AutoCAD, SU, Blender, Revit etc apps are working fine so I see no reason to update driver unless there is a bug fix or security patch.
Funny thing is that the on-board Intel 630 graphics card on this same desktop is showing driver version 25.20.100.6617 from 3/8/2019 while current driver is 27.20.100.8581 from 7/29/2020. I wonder if it doesn't update since it is not being used? It's not showing that it is disabled either. Interesting.. -

These aggragators stealing content off the 3D Warehouse to sell is the main reason I don't make any of my SketchUp models available there. The ones I have uploaded to the Warehouse are locked so no one else can download them.THIS! ^^^^^^^

RE: So whats up with Sketchup??
Other CAD subscription services allow you to use older versions....
Buy With Autodesk | Purchase Options | Autodesk
When you buy with Autodesk, you can choose a plan, subscription, and payment options that meet your needs.

RE: How will the switch to subscription affect you?
I have said before, the day someone makes a UI in Blender that can duplicate SU's then it's days are numbered. There are a few add-ons that are getting damn close!

RE: So whats up with Sketchup??
My bad but still not going to be the same as with native hardware. Yes, I remember those PPC to x86 days well. Well shall see how well this goes. As I said, you can use till the OS no longer runs it.

RE: So whats up with Sketchup??
LOL, you ever use a 3D program in a VM? Talk about slow! All I am saying is that hardware WILL go out at some time or another. Especially in the Apple units that have soldered in components (ram, hard drives etc). I guess Intel based macs will become as sought after as the nvidia based units.

For those who are interested, I propose to write a petition against Trimble for forced subscription :
LOL Trimble doesn't care. Anybody that has used Trimble products before KNEW that this was coming. I don't blame the SU team as they HAVE to do what corporate Trimble tells them to do as Trimble OWNS it.

We are getting ready to see this with Apple's new mac mini and macbooks based on arm architecture. You think the new units will install the last mac version of SU before subscription? We know good and well that the new arm based MS surfaces will not install the last windows version of SU.
It feels like a hollow promise but I hope to be proven wrong. -
