    • Posting a spherical image to the web for client to view

I've searched this forum every way I can think, but can't find anything useful... sorry if it's been discussed a million times already...

can anyone help me... I'm trying to post a spherical image I rendered of an apartment living room into a simple web viewer that requires little/no download for my client...

any link to a tutorial how to do this would be great...
I've looked at PanoTools and GoCubic, but I'm confused, and it seems complicated.

if anyone can find a good tutorial, I'm glad to follow it...

If we assume they have quicktime viewer, can anyone tell me where a tutorial is to turn a spherical.jpg into a sperical.mov they can navigate in Quicktime?

      thanks in advance.

    • RE: [Plugin] Double line

Didier! You are wonderful... but you already knew this. Thank you for sharing this wonderful update.

Since you love bug-hunting... here's what I get now... it does draw the wall but in the opposite direction from expected... I drew vertically on the 'inside' of this wall... I think it's picking the 'positive' direction of the green axis... perhaps - just a guess.
my axis lines show up now. πŸ˜„

So, this guy goes to the doctor...
man: "Doc, my arm hurts when I move it like this."
doctor: "Well, don't move it like that."

very very generous offer, Solo! πŸ˜† Thanks!

I have decided I will just import these furniture pieces in .obj format directly to KT. I will just build some placeholders in SU for my Cam. setup.

I can probably convert the objs at home tonight. πŸ˜’

      😳 yeah. Deep Exploration... 😳
I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet... πŸ˜† but as I say, they won't let me install it here.

    • Jf_obj_import.rb - doesn't import materials

OK... the search in this forum is frustrating...
I used it to try to find "jf_obj_import.rb" and it finds all posts with the word import...

so, sorry for a new post instead of asking in the original post.

I am using the "jf_obj_import.rb" plugin to import an OBJ file, but it does not read the .mtl file and map the textures... that's not gonna fly. Anyone have any ideas?

I own deep impact, but I'm at work, and they don't want me installing my personal proggies on my work machine... understandable I guess.

Anyone know of a better obj importer for SU6Pro/SU6free?

      thanks

    • RE: [Plugin] Double line

Great work, Didier! Thanks so much for sharing!

      a couple little things:
when I choose "show axis"... it does not show... whether or not I have it pop the wall up.

After drawing a wall, I exit the tool, then I want to draw a double line vertically on a face, so I choose to use the tool again... set width to 12", no face, no close. I draw a vertical line from top edge to bottom edge of the wall face. I hit enter for it to draw the double line. I get this.

    • RE: Windowizer

Hi Rick, this looks great! congrats!

can a value of "0" be specified for the frame and have it therefore only build divider mullions/muntins? this way we would be able to use it to subdivide panels in a previously built curtainwall system?

Will it have the option to be only one sided curtainwall? the additional polys will be very heavy in the scene if they are not needed. I would then have to keep the old windowizer as I prefer the lowest polys possible... for quicker SU response and quicker render times.

Is there a way to make the grouping a component instead? one that cuts the opening? Say I picked 3 identical faces, and told it to make the window, and it were to make it, make it a component, and place the component in all three places for me... that would be powerful. 😎

      done.
did so some time ago... just waiting for the rest of my collegues to β˜€ catch up to the freedom

they day they deliberately made Viz's last release so that it would NOT use all my cores...to force me to buy Max... was the day I jumped ship forever from the bloodsucking ba$#@$$%s.

loved that little story, btw. glad I stumbled accross it, thanks Jackson! put quite a fine point on my sentiments. I thought the thing was archaic the day I started using it back in v. 10. πŸ˜’

well, Jon, I see the rush of folks to answer you is overwhelming.
my guess is this is an internal-workings-of-SU problem, not a ruby-solvable issue.
this should be added to the SU7 wishlist for sure!

I would use it for SU alone if it were avail.! please be encouraged to finish a beta for us.
I show many animations to clients these days inside good 'ole SU6. Clients love it. Would be great if it were smoothed out just like you showed.

    • RE: 20 ruby's you can't live without

      1 - make faces
2 - extrude lines up, extrude lines using 2 points, etc... all them extrude lines commands.
      3 - Windowizer (creates a curtainwall)
4 - select all instances - is that a ruby, or built-in... I forget now...
5 - Joint Push Pull (for push-pulling curves)
6 - pushpull face in any direction (using 2 points), and other pushpull face commands... along normal, along Z, etc.
      7 - stair generator
      8 - SU2KT (SketchUp 2 Kerkythea)
9 - Proper Animation - (great for showing diff. options for furniture, or doors swinging open)
10 - Scene Exporter pro - once get used to having it... can't live without.
      11 - Automated 2D Output
      12 - Mirror Selection
13 - Deselect Edges (Deselect Faces) - I think these are rubies...
14 - Offset on surface (and tools on surface)
15 - Purge (this should be number 2)
16 - Layers and Materials plugin by Didier Bur
      17 - Intersect overlapping lines
      18 - Selection Memory
      19 - Soap Skin Bubble
20 - Protrude (closest thing we have to greeble plugin for SU)

I am intensively looking for a method that would tell me if a texture on a face is 'projected/photomacthed' or not. This one doesn't seem to do the job

Todd, I'm not quite clear, sorry 😳

Correct me if I'm wrong, I read the post you linked at google groups, but it's apparent to me, (I'm no programmer) then that it's impossible with the methods provided in SU6 to check to see the difference if a material applied in the scene is a photomatched texture or just any old .jpg Texture.

πŸ’ If not, will there be a patch released to provide a method? Or at least can google team please confirm providing this method in SU7 ❓

    • RE: [Plugin] Simple Glazing tool

I asked a long time ago for windowizer to have ability to have "0" as the frame, and have it be left out completely... but all I remember getting was a "good idea Fletch"... while never seeing it implemented... I'm still waiting.

until then... this could be useful - thanks for sharing!... and true about the workflow... sometime nice to just draw interactively.
