i bet he got confused with the fact that the old topics have now recent dates. you could very well be replying to something posted 6 months ago!

Edson...yeah, sometimes, but I'm thinking I don't have the patience for the learning curve right now (and you guys seem to discuss work-arounds a lot :`)
tom,
the learning curve is really not steep: in a couple of hours you would have understood how the system works. besides, if you do not want to learn macintoshese right away you can run windows for as long as you wish and only later get into mac.
it is a pity mike lucey went into hiding. he made the switch and is very happy with it.

RE: Trouble with materials/components!
have a look at the animated water reflection freeware available at this site.

RE: Trouble with materials/components!
well, you will have to apply a material to it. it is very much like painting it with a color. Tools>>Paint Bucket, then you choose a material from Vegetagion, Groundcover and appply to your hedge. you can aldo import an image from an outside source and apply to it.

RE: Array or Copy Multiple?
bravo, gidon. much more precise than the one i posted above.
the same principles explained by gidon in his tut on linear arrays apply to radial ones: just instead of a distance one would enter an angle.

RE: Array or Copy Multiple?
tina, who are you talking to?
and what exactly are you trying to do and cannot do?

RE: Array or Copy Multiple?
hi randall,
what you probably want to do is to create an array in which one single instance can be turned into an arrangement of objects in rows and columns, right? i do not think SU can do it in a single move. first you have to copy the object along a row (horizontally) then you select the entire row and copy it vertically. see the attached "tutorial".

Layer Manager
foi postado um excelente script para lidar com as camadas no SU. o autor é didier bur, que já nos tem brindado com outros excelentes scripts. e é acompanhado de um pdf que explica o seu uso. imperdível!
ele pode ser baixado daqui.
abraços.

RE: [Plugin] Layer Manager New Release
didier,
this is a fantastic script. thanks for your genius and generosity. and the documentation that comes with it is an example to be followed.
i have installed it and have started using it right away.

RE: Please help build my new 'chine...
ever thought of switching to a mac? now you can even run windows on it. you would have the best of two worlds. just a thought...

RE: Help! southern hemisphere users here!
in case you do not know them, the best two books on SU are:
The Sketchup Book, by Bonnie Roskes
Google Sketchup for dummies, by Aidan Chopra (videos from the book on you tube). beware of the fancy edition wiley just published: same content, 3x the price.cheers.

RE: Help! southern hemisphere users here!
no problem. it is curious that, in some applications, the mac and pc versions differ significantly. microsoft entourage (the mac equivalent to outlook), for one, is quite different from its counterpart.
cheers.

Wow, that's interesting! Thanks for posting it! (Edson uses a Mac version though the pro one).
yes, but until april i used a free version, and i remember having no difficulty in setting the location to porto alegre. you sounded so secure when you said there was no location feature for the free versions that i thought i was confusing things. thanks, santiago.
-
RE: Help! southern hemisphere users here!
gai,
unless i am very much mistaken, it is in the free version as well.
and, lets_roll, if you do not want to do what tom suggested every time you open a new file, do it once on an empty one and save it as a template. after that go to preferences>>template and choose that one as the default file at opening the app.

RE: ?can scenes be coppied or can anamitation play in reverse?
perhaps one way of doing it would be to export your scenes (for this you will need the script PageExIm from Smustard), import them into your file and then rename them in inverse order. the first part is fast but the second is essentially manual. SceneRename can help you there.

RE: At the risk of making a fool out of myself....
i would not call myself seasoned, but i have played around with SU for a quite intense while. however, the only thing i did when opening the options box at dwg import was to fix the scale and tell it to preserve drawing origin.
so do not be ashamed about it. i keep asking dumb questions to this board and people have always helped me with my troubles.
which box exactly did you check in order to avoid triangulation? merge coplanar faces, right?
