    • RE: Water House Part II

      Back again.

The living room and seating area are on the ground floor with a nice view of the lake.
There is an open staircase leading to the first floor. First floor with a bathroom, and two bedrooms.

The model is rendered in Kerkythea with a global sky and water material.

House is still under construction. I need to add a few more rooms etc.

P.s. This is the first version of the Water House:

    • RE: Presentations/sessions at Google 3D Basecamp 2008

      I just found these sessions.

      Very interesting!
I like the presentations by Aiden Chopra, I got his "SketchUp for Dummies" book.

Mason Thrall has made some incredible models for GoogleEarth. But his presentations make my a bit nervous. Prehaps he needs some presentation technique training...

The story of Andrew Nathanson about his SketchUp is very inspiring! πŸ‘ πŸ‘
Mr. Bartels was mentioned as well!

    • Google Earth models, my city Bergen op Zoom

      Hey guys,
I'm modelling the main square of the city I live in. Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands.
Bergen op Zoom is about 700 years old so there are a lot of interesting historic buildings in the city center.
My goal is to model the entire main square, the "Grote Markt"
3 models have already been approved by Google.

      Welcome Joe!
      I like the second one.

How did you get that "soft" shadow effect?

      Some new renders.
New lighter wood material for the top floor. Added some more windows.
Changed the front of the house.

      Got a question on Kerkythea.
How can I "raise" or "lower" the horizon so it fits nicely in the scene?
I'm talking about the global sky.

Nice house, I'd skip the railing too; it makes one feel more free, as you put it too.

Which renderer did you use, and how did you get that water effect?

      Thanks.
It is rendered in Kerkythea, using the water pack.
Very easy to get some nice looking water!

    • RE: House on the waterfront (WIP)

      Thanks for the comments guys!

I've flipped the roof so the heigh part is at the back, converted the back to an all glass exterior.
The water is about 1 or 2 meters deep I think, the house is situated on a lake.

Here's some new render, hope you guys like them.

      @ Remus
The lowest point of the ceiling on the second floor is 2,30 m.
Is that ok according to today's builing standards?

      @ James
No children and no drunk people are allowed to loiter on the deck. πŸ˜†
They will just fall into the water. We can't have that.

      @ Daniel
Thanks for your comment. I'm going to add a few more windows.

Yep, thats what I was thinking as well!

      Got some some renders.
I lowered the top floor, think it was a bit to heigh. Added a new texture for the top floor.
Added a carport and some vegetation.

      Thanx for your comment James.
I'm still working on the deck. Not sure if I want to add a railing though. I kinda like the idea of the freedom you have when there is no railing / barrier.

    • House on the waterfront (WIP)

      Hey guys,

I'm working on a new design for a house.
The house is going to be situated on a waterfront, in a new suburban area.

Constuction time is about 20 min. I don't have any good textures yet.
House is a work in progress, I still need to add a lot of things.
