Welcome!
You are correct, this is a great site and full of really good information with so much help on hand. Good to hear you are learning lots already
I have just noticed, when I move the SU toolbars to float where I require on screen, if I close SU and re-open they are stacked in the top left of the screen. It just means eachtime I then open SU I have to place them back where I require.
Any ideas how I can get these to stay in place?
You are right Ross and that is how I work in AutoCad. Im not sure why I seem to leave SU as default concerning the palletes.
I have just tried it as you mentioned and it is far better
It would be good if you could customize the toolbar like in ACAD so I could create one single bar with the most used commands, instead of having 4 or 5 dragged onto my screen.
I recently bought a Dell 24" which is absolutely gorgeous.
I find the big screen very nice apart from modelling in SU. I have to travel such a long way to the toolbars with the mouse pointer compared to my old 19".
I guess that is a downside to not drawing using keyboard shortcuts.
I would definately opt for #2 out of those three, spec wise.
I would definately suggest to upgrade to 2gb memory though. Not sure how much Dell would charge to upgrade, but to buy a stick yourself would cost very little.
I think to get a good laptop with similar spec you have to pay quite a bit more (certainly here in the UK)
From what I can see, one of the things that seems to lift the laptop price is a good dedicated graphics card.
Whatever Jeremy say's, you still cannot beat riding a sports bike hard imo, but this must be the closest thing to it on four wheels.
It looks pretty dam amazing and just seeing his face really gives you a feeling for how fast that thing is.
I imagine there must be a waiting list for those things at that price!

I was hoping T-Mobile would get it. I moved over to them last year and there coverage seems excellent.
Good point with the thumb button Ross. I also have my works Microsoft mouse thumb button configured to centre button, which works extremely well.
Downside with this is when I work at home with my Logitech, especially when using ACAD, I always find myself going to the thumb button to pan.
At home I use the Logitech MX510. It's a nice comfortable mouse with a good feel of buutons and scroll, but it has one annoying problem.
No matter which software/driver version I have tried, there is no option to setup program specific buttons. This is something I find very useful.
On the other hand, at work I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Cordless. This comes with the software options to setup program specific keys, It is extremely comfortable, and looks nice. It just has the middle/scroll button which is so stiff and has a tendancy to operate left and right scroll instead of centre press.
If I could just take my Logitech scroll wheel and fit it in my Microsoft mouse!
I read the review myself last week Mike and was very impressed with the new specs.
What the reviewers did say was it is cheaper to buy the 4gb of memory from someone such as Crucial at Β£150 (probably a lot cheaper over the pond!) and selling on the memory which comes as strandard.
If I had Β£1800 spare, I would buy one myself without hesitation!

Thanks TIG, this is such a good addition to SU for me, I love this ruby.
Yes, hopefully the Beta will end soon and a new version hit the market.
I think it could be a really good and powerful program once it is tweaked.
Fingers crossed work is still proceeding with it and developments are on-going for a future release.
Thanks Chris.
I especially like the wood one, im always looking around for new timber textures.
Thanks Eric. These look like they could actually be fun to make.
