      Hi TIG

Thanks again for another super script.
FYI I got error message using this download, but the 5-6 version on Didier's site works perfectly.
(latest version of GSU Pro 6)

Also seems more logical to me to have it show up in the [File] menu and easy to change if needed.

The [Plugin] spot gets Plugged up in hurry for we collectors.

      ErikB

Sorry to miss all the problems finding the ruby.

FYI I draw a vector in the direction and height needed.
It can be anywhere as it is just a reference entity.
If snapped to the line to extrude it is a good idea to group the vector reference.

You can see it in my first scene.

      Hope this helps a bit.

      Hi All

Hack attack on Artlantis server and it will be down until fixed.

I just had an Email from Alain Picard in that regard.
Email will still work if needed.

    • NoTwist using Joint PP

      Bingo

After a little messing around with Joint PP I did find a basic solution to the old and messy Twisted Sister issue in SU path extrude.

At last it is really possible to create at least a simple roadway using an inclined path that really stayed level using the JointPushPull ruby set.
Just a brilliant ruby solution and terrific docs too.

Many thanks to Fredo6 for this impressive work.

Simply creates an HTML file with flash imbedded.

    • RE: Redirect plugins folder

      Hi Mirjman & Gaieus too.

I'm not a code-head at all, but there is a simple way to help re-distribute the scripts.
At your own risk you can re-locate most scripts using a text editor.
Save the script first to another folder just in case it goes upside down.

Do a search for this code UI.menu("Plugins")and just change the "Plugins" to one of the
other menus in SU such as "Tools" etc.
Some scripts are encrypted, but can be converted back to simple text.
Not a recommended procedure but check with the author to see if a special could be produced for you.

      Happy trails

    • RE: Drape tool Horizontal ?

Thx TF for the heads up.

I was aware of the project set from Didier.
They fail to create face from circle and do not slice through
the 3d object like the drape tool does.
As you said the results can be a little unpredictable.

Good of you to give a shot to help.

A rotated drape may not be possible but sure would be nice to have.

    • Drape tool Horizontal ?

      A drape tool idea.

Tom of TDesk posted a quick way to create 3d shapes from vector elevations.
Thx again for all your good stuff Tom.

I have used the drape tool to create 2d plans and profiles from 3d floor plans and elevations etc by rotating the objects to vertical using the tool.
Rotate back to finish the model as I originate design in SU not in my cad application.

A little messy, but does work and the 2d will slice completely through a 3d object too using Tom's method.

(for 2d export this is quick and non-destructive of the 3d model as well)

A simple ruby that could fool SU so that the drape would work horizontally
(or at selected angle in 3d space ?)would be a really useful tool.
Just changing the axis did not work either.

Not my skill level to try, but is this possible ?

    • RE: Idea for script

      Jon

I use SU to to design in 3d export dwg for creating con docs from the SU design model.
My magic scheme depends on a dwg export to TurboCad, but may work for Acad as well but give it a shot and see how the export comes into Acad.

Here is the basics for for your info.
1-First I set construction lines for overall model limits.
2-Then I mess around a bunch to find the design form in 3d that will also work for interior space planning as well.
Save a copy to a 3d file now.
for multi-story projects the slice ruby will work for separating levels)
3-The trick for layout is to have single lines for perimeter and interior walls blocked first.
4-Using the [extrude along path] ruby you can now build walls of varying widths on edges or center lines on selected line segments.
(I set the height to only a couple of feet to keep the plan easily viewable.)
5-OK now you will have a selection of walls that are auto-grouped and selectable as such.
Next add dimensions and you will be able move the wall elements with the dimensions adjusting parametrically.
[[Save a copy to a 3d file now.]]
6-When all dimensions needed are set, select walls only not dimensions and explode.
7-Use the [flatten] ruby which should eliminate any double lines, but check to make sure.
The [remove unused edges] ruby will finish any cleanup needed.
8-Create a Plan View scene in ortho mode.
      9-Export to a 3d (not 2d) dwg file.
I use the Acad 2004 format and do make sure to deselect the faces option box.

In Tcad the import brings in all the walls and the dimensions come in as parametric entities.
SU does not export text as editable words, but can be formated for font and size in Tcad.

Elevations and section cuts will work the same for dimensions when needed for the Con Docs.

Not a complete solution, but a start and Tcad
Standard will work and the dwg export back to Acad is very good.

I probably have missed some strokes, but here is a get started that I hope will help

    • New Point & Shoot Digital 8.1

      Hardware heads up.

We needed a "vacation" camera as the Nikon SLR and lenses were really a pain to drag along for a fun event.

Surprise selection that beat everything I looked checking image quality using my own sd chip for review.

      8.1 MP
2.5 inch screen w outside viewing boost.
(no optical viewer on this however)
      iso to 8000
      shutter 2000/ sec
      5X zoom
      5 frame burst + video
A really effective auto mode that really delivers what you see on the screen when printed out.
Full manual settings plus presets that include in-camera panorama stitching.
Very sharp output and delivers super results in very low light even without flash.
Compact and easy to one-hand shoot and a no brainer to get up to speed with and use.

The new Kodak (yeh Kodak) Z885
with street price of about $179 US.

A just super P&S and nothing else even
gets close for quality and value.

Check out the Kodak site for full specs.
      *****5 stars for the Z885
