Looks great. What textures did you use for the stone & grass?

RE: Random SU files all over computer
What cad program are you using? Try renaming the .bak file to the extension of the cad files. They are probably just backups of your cad drawings.

RE: Random SU files all over computer
Are they actually showing up as sketchup files? Does the "type" say sketchup model or something or is it just the little icon. I've had the icons for the .bak files go wacko on me before. Post a screen cap if your still worried.

RE: Random SU files all over computer
On my computer, sketchup's backup files are .skb. Maybe your .bak files are set to be recognized as "opened with" sketchup. I know autocad in particular uses the .bak extension for its backup files. They are not sketchup files. If you rename the .bak files to .dwg files (if your using autocad) the will open in autocad. It might be just a case of your "open with" setting being a bit messed up; or maybe two programs using the .bak extension for backup.

RE: ::Cabin Design::
Completely your designs? Very nice. They all show off the buildings nicely. I especially like the cladding on the red roof one.

RE: NPR tools
I heard someone mention this in one of the Basecamp videos but couldn't find where to download it either. I downloaded all the RpTools but didn't find it there. It looks interesting, I hope someone who knows more responds.

RE: Weird lighting style
I kinda like it. Did you just use the watercolor filter in photoshop? Came out better than my first real watercolor.

RE: Multiple offset.
Indeed, would be nice. I'm not code savy but you'd think it wouldn't be that hard to implement.

RE: Animation choppy on CD
I'm exporting it as an avi in sketchup using the Cinepak codec. Then burning it to a cd as just a file. No autoplay, nothing, just a file. Then reading that movie file on a nice fast cd/dvd burner on my computer. A better way?

What are you using to create the CD? what format are you writting as and what are you using for play back?

Animation choppy on CD
I have exported an .avi file of my model in sketchup. When I play the movie file on my computer everything is good. If I burn the movie file to a cd however, the movie plays back choppy & slow. Is that a file problem or a cd reading problem? Anybody know?
Thanks

RE: Hospice in Louisiana
Thanks all and especially for the tree link Boofredlay, can always use new components. I really need to take some time and learn photoshop better. Any suggestions for a good tutorial or book. All my work is Architectural related so a series geared toward that would be best. I've downloaded Kerkythea 2008 and plan on reading up.

RE: Hospice in Louisiana
I haven't taken the rendering plunge yet. Its all a bit overwhelming. Sooo many settings. I like the more simple look of the Sketchup images anyhoo. The client doesn't get too focused on pretty tress or flashy reflections. I've been looking over some the the digital watercolor posts and hopefully can give that a try when I have a bit more time. Thanks though.

Hospice in Louisiana
This is a project I've been working on in Louisiana. It still needs some work. I personally don't like how the horizon line looks in the distance, too abrupt. I'd also like to add some more vegetation around the building but still keep the simple style. The client wants a movie too, so I'm hoping to keep as much in Sketchup as I can. Any suggestions on how to spice it up, in Sketchup/Photoshop? I'm a Photoshop novice so any tricks would be a big help.
Thanks all. -
Hatch patern like materials
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to export Autocad hatch patterns into a format that can be used in Sketchup. I have a ton of nice tileable hatch patterns in Autocad that would look kinda cool in Sketchup. If thats not possible does anybody know where to find some nice thin line like in the attached pic?

Want new computer. dont want old problems.
I have the wonky graphics card issues, when I crank up OpelGL settings, that are well covered here in the forum . An example is pictured in the attached image. I use a Geforce 8500 GT card with an 3.21GHz AMD 64 Athlon X2 chip, 2GB of ram on Windows XP.
My question is what cards or combos don't have this problem. I'm looking to buy a new system and really want sketchup to scream. I was looking at going mobile with a 17" Macbook Pro, but don't want to spend 3 grand and still have the same issues. What do you all think? Who doesn't have this issue and whatcha runnin?
Thanks!
