Well done, Mr. Coll!
Not bad for a fella from up the road! I'm sure you had plenty of practice riding up the Glenshane Pass...
Cheers!

Hello Dermot! Long time no hear.
I recall a mutual friend, a certain Mr. Diamond telling me story about going to a hurling match and it all being very rowdy, of course. I believe the trouble was broken up by the ref letting off a couple of shotgun blasts into the air..
I have now solved the mystery, Gaieus, though I only half-understand..
Turns out it was a ruby of some kind, either purchased or downloaded from the kind people on this forum. Not that the ruby itself was defective - just was either replicated or was residing in the wrong folder.
My process was to remove all rubies temporarily, remove Sketch Up Pro and then do a clean reinstall. From this point I had no problem finding and activating the DC components toolbars. And, incidentally the sand box toolbar which also wasn't behaving.
I'm now in the process of adding the rubies back in, very slowly and one or two at a time, then closing and reopening Sketch Up to see which was the conflicting script.
Thanks for all the comments and support!
Nigel
Gaieus,
I should update my profile to say that I am now on SU 7 Pro; had to upgrade due to a nightmare transitioning to a new laptop and SU 6 refused to stop crashing upon starting up.
I'll go update my profile while I still remember!
Cheers,
Nigel
Thanks for the advice, William and Gaieus.
I'm trying with the same DC model as before and still no success using your suggestions. Perhaps the model isn't correct..I'll try another.
Cheers,
Nigel
Hi all.
Can anyone shed some light on how I can activate the dynamic components toolbar?
I have downloaded a DC police car from 3DW to investigate and apparently I should be able to interact with a finger pointer. I can't activate or see the DC interact toolbar, despite looking to check the box in "Window--Extensions--" and so on.
Has this happened to anyone else and if so, I'd be grateful for some info or a fix.
Thanks!
Nigel
The latest word from Google support is to run Sketch Up solo with no other programs...not likely.
...and that didn't work either; same Bug Splat upon firing up SU.
Guess I'll have to wait on the Bug Splat reports I've sent to support.
Hi Chris.
Thanks for the reply. That's what I'm thinking right now too...sometimes the simplest solution is best.
Cheers,
Nigel
Wow, haven't had a Bug Splat in a long time.
Here's the background - I had to shift machines, reinstalled Sketch Up Pro 6. This worked for a while until I discovered that I could not access the Sandbox tools (tried the Extensions - check Sandbox route to no avail).
I did, however, followed some advice (from the Google Sketch Up Pro forums) on where the Sandbox rubies should dwell, shuffled them around according to the advice, and the Bug Splats immediately followed...
Any ideas/suggestions/help will be breathlessly, gratefully received!
Cheers,
Nigel
Hmmmm. Not that impressed by the update so far, folks.
Hi all.
Any Ipod/Iphone fans know what time the update might become available on ITunes?
I've heard various reports about this time and that time, even that it has been postponed!
Thanks!
Nigel
Hi Andy and all.
Andy, I'm a fan of your work and I'm always interested in what you are going to show next, so glad to help if I can.
I have a little knowledge of structural engineering as my background was manual drafting of reinforced concrete and structural steel. I can't do a calculation for you but my two pence worth would be:
I agree that half the weight/force of the arch will come down upon each upright, though the arch should self-support. There may be a little spread at the "feet" of the arch, but the secret lies in the quality of the connections to the columns. Lateral restraint is also paramount, but you mentioned this, saying that the arch/columns would be tied back to existing in situ structure. Again, very important are the connections and restraint; we would overcompensate a little with bolt sizes and fillet welds just to build in a little extra safety factor.
Hope it helps in some small way.
Cheers,
Nigel
Bring me back a Pot Noodle, sausage rolls, fish and chips and some decent Cadbury's chocolate. Oh, and a proper pint of beer.

Nigel
Hi Paul.
I'll watch these for sure; love Red Dwarf!
Remember the "backwards" episode?!
Cheers,
Nigel
Ugh. Sometimes I wonder about freedom of speech.
Spare a thought guys, Hannity is in town here this evening....
Just signed. Need 2 more for 30 sigs!
Cheers,
Nigel
Tremendous work again, Andy.
I always look forward to what you are working on.
Great techniques in Sketch Up and PhotoShop. I'm assuming hull and/or skin rubies were used for the roofs?
Quick query, was the fence/stile meant to remain in the picture to contribute to the timeframes concept?
Reminds me of many a visit to the Mussenden temple and Bishop's Palace at Downhill, Northern Ireland. Can almost smell the air and feel that strong horizontal wind that would skin ye!
Cheers,
Nigel
Thanks so much for all the effort and time invested into this amazing ruby, Chris.
This will save me so much time and actually raise up my level of modeling, so I am indebted.
I second the ruby Oscar awards idea!
Cheers,
Nigel
