Dave, I used the Killen method: Draw the square portion of the leg. Hide a face. Draw a pommel shape along a diagonal and extrude it. Unhide the face and then intersect the square portion with the extruded pommel shape. Your method entails fewer steps and much less clean-up.

It was probably called that because of its simple non-ornate style.

The 3D Warehouse is still maintained by Google (I think). But in the past, those data did not use to be up to date either - just a rough estimate of the downloads and views.

Personally I like the model but as a desk I wouldn't like having to clear the top to open or close the doors on it. I'm cluttered too.

Great, thanks for the explanations. I'd love to have a go at making something like that. Maybe a bit ambitious seeing as how I don't have a workshop, if I want to make something I have to wait for good weather and work outside.

Thank you, sir. Yes, the One King's Lane site does have some interesting stuff. Decent photos, too, for those who want to try to model some of the furniture. As for my model, I couldn't decide how to handle that one shelf; I thought a rounded-over edge would look odd, so I left it square. But I may change my mind again. Truth be told, once I got the cutouts in the sides looking right and did the rounded-corner molding, the rest of the piece wasn't that interesting. A shelf is a shelf is a shelf; not much one can do with that. Best, dh
