Turn AA off and export at a much bigger size.

In SketchUp the limit is 9999 pixels... bigger export is possible with Layout (as Gaieus mentioned before)

The "alt"-key (or alternatively the arrow up (blue axis)) will force the needed autofold, see here:

Would like to see some steps towards the proxy. Is that all free form joining of edges, say for carafe?

Here are some of the first steps, I will make a more detailed "making of" for the next example...

Ok there is a freeware program called "make human", u can google it and get a download from there, that's 1 option, but you will need meshlab and autodesks fbx converter to import into SU, both are freewares also, hope this helps πŸ˜„

Nice program! I've tried it and was able to export a collada-file and import in SU without other converters...

If the intersections lead to very small edges and/or faces, you can try to scale the model (e.g. x1000) before the intersections...

Checking the box in attachment does not make any changes...

This checkbox only controls the active section plane (if there are more than one) and not their visibility.
(edit: see this video for an application of this)
The visibility is controlled by the style dialog:

      vis_sectioncut.jpg

(One way to get two styles is described in Daves answer)
