RE: Video Tutorial 2005
Hi Pilou,
thanks for the quick reply. The first link is the right thing. I believed it had only twelve lessons. Too bad it does not work anymore. I thought for a beginner it would be still good to use.

Video Tutorial 2005
Hi All,
When I met Sketchup in 2005, by chance I found a video tutorial that showed the use of the standard tools in twelve video lessons. With this tutorial I Found then a quick access to the Sketchup techniques.
I've tried many times to rediscover this tutorial, but without success. It was in a player, as shown below in the image. Perhaps someone can remember it and know eventually where it is to find.

RE: Problem with "instant road"
Hi,
I've tried it. I exploded the group and created a new group. But then there is a new problem.

RE: Is this a myth?
Hi,
try it out. There is a trial version. Probably one needs the corresponding spatial data to produce the buildings
What is Esri CityEngine?
CityEngine is a stand-alone desktop software application for the design, planning, and modeling of urban environments in 3D. The current release connects to the rest of the ArcGIS system primarily through data exchange, though this will become more tightly integrated in future releases.
CityEngine allows professional users in GIS, CAD, and 3D to:
Quickly generate 3D cities from existing 2D GIS data. Do conceptual design in 3D, based on GIS data and procedural rules. Efficiently model virtual 3D urban environments for simulation and entertainment.
CityEngine also provides advanced capabilities for the direct export of the generated 3D city models out to other software tools, such as data management/analysis packages (like ArcGIS), 3D editing software (like Maya or 3ds Max), geo-visualization tools (like ArcGlobe or Google Earth), game engines (like Unity or Unreal), high-end rendering solutions (like RenderMan), or web-ready cloud rendering services (like RealityServer).

This is not an answer to your question. But I've only just seen the prices.

RE: Old Camera
Hi,
very nicely done. I had never heard of Keyshot until now. I've installed the trial version and am impressed by this renderer.

RE: [REQ] Edge 2 Groove
Hi,
I have tested the groove tool. The results are unusual. I do not know why.

One feature is that the servers are located in Switzerland. You should take a look at this page.

RE: A new home for SketchUp
Hi,
I note that this message still generated quite a stir. Maybe we should wait till it’s finally clear what Trimble intends with Sketchup. I can only hope that Trimble-Sketchup is retained as a separate program, possibly with some improvements. What I can think of so far is:
Of course, "Trimble" will integrate the program into its range of products. This assumes that Sketchup may receive a similar appearance. The menu structure may also be adapted to other programs in the product range. It will certainly also include interfaces to exchange BIM data with their programs.
I would hope that there are at the end two Pro versions, one version with BIM functionalities or BIM interfaces, and one Version without and of course a free version.
The most important thing is that the program continues to remain intuitive. That is the great advantage over all other 3D programs.

RE: A new home for SketchUp
Hi,
I had a look into the product categories. Everything I've seen is that all "Timble" products are designed for highly specialized industrial processes. As a layman I can not judge how SketchUp can be incorporated into this range without losing his lightness. I am afraid it might end in a Autodesk like package. I hope this does not happen.

Plugin Extrude Edges by Face
Hi,
if one chooses the path a second time (in the X-ray mode), and each provides a different face, you can create some interesting new profiles.

RE: Realistic Ice Effect in Kerkythea
Hi Jordan,
One possibility is the frosted glass in Kerkythea. You should experiment with this glass. It would be nice if you show your results later.
