this is the answer i got from google help. they were quite fast and helpful. i am quoting their reply here in the hope it can help other people. i do hope they do not mind.
well, i did as suggested: disconnected my mac and the dreaded message stopped. let's see what happens tomorrow. will this fix it for good or will i have to disconnect every time i launch SUp?
P.S.: anssi, i had already done what you suggested. as you can see, it is a bug.
