    • Using Materials dynamically

      Hello,

I'm trying to create a dynamic component that mimics the functionality of the 'Art Frame' dynamic component that Google created. Basically it is a dynamic component of a frame picture. Each time you click on the frame the 'artwork' material changes.

If I understand correctly, this behavior comes from the components 'onClick' behavior that is currently: SET("ArtCount",1,2,3,4)

To me this says, rotate the material between 4 different options.

What I cannot figure out is how to create this to begin with. I see a 'Custom' section in the components attributes section that has a 'ArtCount' property that is set to '4'. What I don't understand is how to designate each material. Is it a hidden face that has a tag that identifies it as item #1 or 2 and is unhidden in response to a 'dynamic click'?

I'm happy to absorb a video or other tutorial, I just can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

      Thanks so much.

    • 3D Warehouse - Model vs. Component

      Hello everyone.

I have a question about uploading to the 3d warehouse. Under the 'file'|'3D warehouse' menu in Sketchup there is an option for upload component or upload model. I can't find any documentation on the difference between these two options.

      Does anybody here know?

      Problem Solved!

      Thank you d12dozr.

Your solution is simple, elegant and something I should have seen right off. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    • Dimension Tool in Sketchup vs. Layout

Hello all and thanks in advance.

I'm new to sketchup, but thanks to a shallow learning curve I've been able to get up to speed very quickly. SketchUp Rocks!

      Anyway, on to my problem.

I have a very simple model, 2d, in sketchup and I can add dimension lines just fine, the problem I have is when I import the file to layout and change the scale the text of the dimensions does not print out sharp, the text is blurry. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Not a problem I thought, I'll just create the dimension lines in Layout. I opened the file in sketchup, deleted the dimension lines, went back to layout to add the dimension lines and that's where I ran into the next problem. Some of the dimension lines in layout appear 'behind' my model and so are not visible. I've tried the 'Arrange' move to back, move to front commands with no luck.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a different approach I should use?

      Thanks everyone for your help.
