      Hello everybody!
Looks like this guy didn't spend a full minute to even try SU. And as far as I know he could not only be a user of another software but someone from another software company as well (either way, what he did was tragic!!!). What he tried to do was to make us talk about it all day while he was was on his pityful corner trying to understand why he lacked of intuition and creativity.
SU is far from perfect and needs some addons as you all power users already posted on previous posts but it is the most intuitive program I have ever seen, till now.

Its a very interesting plugin! And as it is your first I feel like congatulating you for doing work that help the rest of us , have a better workflow.
I could really make use of it, but I am not going to download yet. You should really listen to Thom, if you don't mind me say, cause he is very experienced.
This plugin can be "a must have" for everyone.

Keep up the good work, and the feedback will come.

    • RE: RANT!!

      Where should I start...
      OOOh I know ....
1.I am from Greece and you all know what is going on the last year( but as far as we know the last 12 years) in this country. Some say there is something wrong about this country, but we all know the opposite:there is nothing right!!!
2.Jobs are getting worse by the second... we are far from "hour by the hour". Everyone is doing everything and noone anywhere to set any kind of limits.
3.Noone wants to pay what others performed as a service to them cause they say, they were obligated to do so, for example, although a friend of mine is a designer, he happens to know about setting up a site, so some political chic, that runs for mayors advisor (yes you read it correctly), put online a site for her after she told him to so and agreed to pay him 150 euros. Now she says "He was obligated cause I am running for the people, not for me and everyone will bennefit by me!!!". And wanna hear omething crazy? She believes it!!!
4.People my age and younger are getting away from Greece cause they dont see a future anymore here!
      ........
      ..........................

Oh well you get the picture... as might as well stop now cause nothing changes and I may get you bored!!!!

Why not just share your solution here? I'm intrigued

You are right!I am really sorry, it didn't sound as intended.
Well, what "the smack" (ME) did wrong was pushing TAB to see if my geometry was correct and anytime I liked it, I exported the model to dae so that I could import it to SU. What I should have done was push D to subdivide the model, (TAB only gives preview of the subdivided geometry) thats why it kept on delivering the undivided model.
      Kind of embarrassing actually!!!!
The thing now is that the dae file is quite big in MB. For instance the sofa you saw attached is 10.8 MB and without any texture. Guess that my inquiry is not over after all!!!!

    • Importing .dae files to SU, please?

      Hello to everyone!
I was wondering if anyone can help me on asmall problem I 'm having! I am using SU as my prime design software but I like designing objects like furniture, plants, vases etc with modo401. My issue is that when I import a file whitch is not subdivided it comes out neat in SU, but for the models I subdivide to achieve the geometry I like, the model comes out really bad! I don't know what am I doing wrong!
I tested it in both SU 7.1 & SU 8.
I 'd really like to combine these two amazing software!
      Thanks in advance!

      Not subdivided

    • RE: Kitchen Cabinet Design

      Hello there!
Well, about your post, I would have to agree that some parameters must be known such as what already replied by our friends. So to sum up:
1.Dimensions and how the place is formed (Corners, door and window openings)
2.How the kitchen is placed in referrence of the other spaces of the house!
      3.Style preferred (Classical, modern etc...)
4.The kitchen will have a "queen" or a "king" or both?
...The above is to help give suggestion or even for you to get to know some things that in my opinion matter a lot.
Many ready kitchen cabinets are located in the warehouse library as already been posted so you can get some ASAP and start testing.
      Whatever I can do to help,well... don't think twice,ask!
      Have fun!

I would really like to know if there is any way to add trees to projects by designing trees or even import from photoshop without having to put up with a 15-20 MB file.

You have identified a serious problem. Keep your trees in a separate layer. A truly huge tree layer will not slow SketchUp down if the layer isn't visible.

      Good evening Martin,
To tell the truth, in the last few days I tried that same thing that you suggested and it worked! That simple! I only make the layer visible when its time to render and voila! Victorius! Not exactly what I had in mind but it will do!
Thank U very much for your help!

DO NOT, I say DO NOT, introduce to him SU!You ll never know what will happen!!!!)

      @gaieus said:

Indeed V-ray cannot handle alpha transparency (yet). The solution is to add a so called "clipmap" where anything that should be transparent is black and the opaque parts are white. This will tell V-ray what to render and what not.

For further advice on V-ray, please, visit our V-ray Subforum under the Extensions... forum. I do not use V-ray myself but you can find excellent resources there.

After importing it as an image, place, align and scale it to your needs.
Now right click > Explode and SU will create a true SU face (with bounding edges) that you can aready manipulate, make a component that faces your camera etc.

You could use the image entity for this, too, but some rendering engines have problems with image entities (Twilight will render them but antialiasing will take forever for instance).

      Finally some sense!!!LOL!!!
      I can't thank U enough!

2D trees can work pretty well most of the times.

Good morning Gaieus, good morning to you all folks,
Your trees and vegetation in your render looks very nice but my attempt had a result quite far from yours. To be more specific, I created this foto of a tree with a transparent background (Photoshop) to use as tree for exterior renderings but 2 things goes wrong, first VRay wont render the transparency (Twilight did in my test) so the result comes as it is with a white background and second, altough I import it as an image it wont manipulate it as component/group. If it isn't to much for me asking would you share some tips/tricks?
      Thank U in advance,
      Antonis
