i'm wondering if su8 is somehow allowing bigger exports..
i just exported a 10k entity model to 19,500 px wide with AA off and jpg compression set to best. (14 seconds with shadows off.. 24secs with them on)
iirc, i used to only be able to go to around 15000px.
anyone else seeing similar improvements?
This may not apply to your specific issue, but:
If you create abutting groups like you suggest, then modify the groups in any way, you have to be careful that the modifications you make do not deform the edges/faces where it touches/ matches the adjacent group.
Well I know 3dmax, and I have Kerkythea, and twilight. I have messed around with twilight too much and been a little while since kerkythea, I might try Piranesi just to do some loose rendering ideas to save myself a little time.
thanks, I ran into the plugin fur played around with it. Was just wondering if this would be easier / quicker. So I will play with the fur plugin some more. Thanks
well i followed the tutorial on how to do it in 3dmax, but when i open my material library, it all comes in on one material, with submaterials, and when i go to modify those sub materials i cant change the scale of the material, and also i cant change the material to Arch & design
I have tool that changes the number of segments in multiple selections of arcs/circles - rather like the Entity Info does for one arc... However, like Entity Info it can't change them if they have connected geometry that is not coplanar... Only works on arcs that don't have 3D faces etc connected to them...
Remaking an 'arch' is the only way - of course if the model were set up using repetitive components etc then it might be less time consuming ?
Sometimes there will be little lines that look like they meet up, but actually don't, thus keep a face from forming. Othertimes the bounding edges are too complex in their shape for SU to realize it should have a face, othertimes its layer and group issues, etc. The list goes on and on for what can keep a face from forming correctly.
A good work around it to draw a line that splits the floor in half. See if you can get 1/2 the floor to close proplerly. Then keep drawing more lines trying to get the next 1/2 to close. Eventually you will narrow it down to a small space that wont close. Zoom in really close and see if you can find lines that don't connect. Then connect them. Then delete all extra lines that you added. Or delete them along the way just to make sure its all working correctly as you go.
You can upload the model to the 3d warehouse and post the link here if you still need help.

Take a look in our Tutorials Forum at this Topic created by Kris. There is also a part 2.
This should help with some of what you are trying to achieve.
