Jet another Idea came to me thinking of working with Sketchup, an advanced layered material tool, call it

"Make-UP";

This tool wold let one paint layers on meshes with brushes or pens or what ever tools (smilar to Photoshop).
right on to the Mesh, in 3D view, plus it could also consist of procedural maps etc. Or even mix material layers in real time on the mesh so you'd see the result right away. All these Material editors are and have been very complex, there's got to be a better way.
Something revolutionary, simplifying like SU has done with the 3D modeling this time with mapping.

Anyone here got Ideas to this?

I would like to see something like this integrated into the SU styles I would call this tool Make-Up.

I would like to add a "no clipping" mode plus the navigation trough "w;a;s;d; keys.

well, the answer to my question would probably be, that firstly it is a matter of interest, secondly a matter of finances (why should google employ a hundret people to improve the graphic, when the main focus is modelling and there are loads of bugs to be fixed still) and thirdly because the textures are mapped perfectly to every object in the game worlds and therefore optimized for a good realtime graphic.

Direct X capability will definitely get my Vote, unless, someone would bother to update "open Gl" to an extent that kicks ass.... ... and MS to OBLIVION

where is this deep exploration? in SU? in the export? or in the Vue Import? I used OBJ because the 3ds resulted in missing geometry and twisted faces.

You're damn right about the import and the OBJ file I do it trough the obj BUT I would wish that the objects were better organized it dissolves components....It should turn the components to groups at least!

I want to get some programmers together and start a new "evo/revolution" of a artist cad tool. If i start today I might just beat the final release time of SU7.

Not to forget to mention the totally cluttered interface of AutoCad and 3D max I think if i'd to spend the extra buck for a high end 3D app i'd take it on me to learn Cinema 4D. I think Cinema supports vast numbers of polys.

I use SU paired up with Vue 6 infinite, but i wish they could at least develop a decent obj exporter that would translate components into groups.

Vue costs only $ 800 and has amazing capabilities and high poly support, just one of the best tools for artists. It just needs to work better with SU then i'm happy. That's why i'm hoping and anticipating SU7.

But I'm getting the thought that I'm going to wait in vain for SU ... remember the Bob Marley song " I don't want to wait in vain for your love"

I bet SU 7 will be integrated in GE what ever the next release is going to be. HO HO

Isn't it in its core a sad thing that religions can't go with a little fun? If you have a look around the world, you will notice, that no mater witch religion you choose the worshipers always look very serious.

It is i his divine plan, but the humans involved are kind of slow, and HE wants to make sure that it's gonna be Damn DIVINE !!!

Hey, I installed ET looked a bit around and wiped it off my HDD right away, It's just to technical, and a very boring looking interface, I could not imagine a good work flow with this one.

As for SpaceClaim, this looks much more like what i hope for Google will do in SU7, this is what I want. And the parametric dimensioning, that when one changes the numeric value the object automatically changes as well.

Then they just have to get the import and export to work for "OBJ", so that components get translated into mesh-groups.

Just hope someone from Google is actually reading this ....
