The import dialog that opens in which you choose the file to import has a large button just next to the Import button that says Options.

RE: Mechanical Arachnid
Cheers Bryan,
I'll have to leave it for a bit now, other things I need to work on. -
RE: Mechanical Arachnid
I've used a bit of Clothworks to give the spider some weight.

RE: Mechanical Arachnid
Another step along the path, no time to work the geometry but able to fiddle the textures.

RE: Mechanical Arachnid
Thanks Gents.
Not quite steampunk, not enough fripperies for that, more sci fi/terminator/robot wars type of thing. Can't decide if the 'fangs' should be guns or nasty implements rather than just bighty things.

RE: SCFLicense: Extension Licensing on Sketchucation
Make sure you have the most up to date version of the Sketchucation plugin.

RE: Mechanical Arachnid
I can assure you don't want to be inside my head.
Here's an earlier attempt at working out how all the legs should work, just needs a dolls head and you've got the creepy one from toy story.

Mechanical Arachnid
A bit of a work in progress, it's been through several iterations so far and a long way to go.
Hopefully it will eventually become a real thing about 1 metre across. I'm not intending it to function but it should all work and be manually poseable.

RE: Increase default line segments of a curves
Select the arc tool, type the number you want and hit enter. This will stay as the default until you change it or start a new instance of sketchup.
-
RE: Offsetting arc makes it a curve?
I can't see an Arc or a Curve in your screenshot.
Attach the model so we can see what you have. -
RE: Sketchup 2022, worth it?
I've found 2022 to be the fastest most trouble free version I have used.
So be aware that personal experience can vary greatly. -
RE: Some tips and tricks from out of the Box
And yes I have acknowledged Kito and posted links to his videos many times when I have shown these techniques elsewhere. Probably even earlier in this thread.

RE: Component Definition vs Instance
Perhaps a simple way of putting it is, the definition is what it is and the instance is which specific copy.
So the definition might be Door Knob.
And various instances would be Front door, Back door, Side door and so on.
Edit any instance will edit the rest.
Make unique will change the definition but not the instance name. So you can make the back door unique and edit it without changing the front door. -
RE: Some tips and tricks from out of the Box
Fredoscale has the ability to change the plane that is used for scaling, allowing you to control the -1 scale of off axis objects, making for an easy mirror tool.

RE: Some tips and tricks from out of the Box
I think the fact you are struggling with it explains the meaning of the title, it is a neither one thing nor the other. It isn't only out of the box it is also out of the box and even some stuff in the box. On that rather ambiguous note I'm for my bed (as they colloquially say in one of the places I have lived, dreadful grammar tho).

RE: Some tips and tricks from out of the Box
No need, nobody in here except you and me to read them.

RE: Some tips and tricks from out of the Box
But they have come from me, therefore From out of the Box.

RE: Some tips and tricks from out of the Box
I must admit I'm struggling to see the grammar problem. But I'll take your word for it.

RE: Some tips and tricks from out of the Box
It's just a play on words, think outside the box, things from outside the box... not the normal way of thinking. and my user name is box.
