I've had exactly the same issue with my left mouse button. The mouse is about 9 months old.
Again, I tried updating the mouse driver, but with no improvement. It does seem to be a hardware issue.
I've also contacted 3DConnexion support & am waiting for a response.

I got mine last October... so not much older, used heavily every every day.

The crazy part is that I've come to rely on how I mapped the buttons. Working on a 'standard' mouse is just weird...

      Mike,
Does your left click require more effort than previously. My mouse went from the lightest of clicks (which I love) to requiring increasingly more pressure for the click. This happened over about 18 months. 3d Connexion replaced the mouse.
      KrisM

After more testing, it seems to be hardware related. But it's inconsistent and sometimes it will register a double or triple click, or no click at all.

I've reached out to their online support folks. Hopefully they get back to me.
In the mean time I've ordered another. I hope they replace it (new to me in October 15) - and if they do I'll have a spare.

Really can't work (well) without it. Trying to get my muscle memory to remember what a normal mouse does... (Orbit, right click, programmable buttons that don't exists...)

    • 3d Connexion CADMouse 'missing clicks'

      Really odd, started happening yesterday.
I re-loaded drivers (the latest)... to no avail.
Happens in SU and LO, as well as other apps.

Mac, El Capiton whatever is latest official release.
CAD Mouse misses clicks it seems, or jumps them together.

      Anyone else seeing this?

The Sonder 'scenes'/'Layer' trick is very useful. I wonder if there are any other little gems like this that are hidden/undocumented?

I do similar with camera, save some scenes with the layers I want / need, or the styles I want need, but select it to not update the camera, then I can toggle back and forth to get the styles, layers, etc. to update on specific scenes, more selective, and visual than Sonder's trick, and sometimes I delete those scenes as soon as I'm done with them.

Also, setup scenes where the camera doesn't move, but where key elements are on or off using layers.
I have the following scenes setup with a fast style, no camera update:

work (fast style, all my geometry layers on, but sections, etc. off)
work off (fast style all layers off)
work on (fast style, all layers on)
work A (fast style, only my architectural layers on)
work T (fast style, only my timber layers)

      etc. etc.

Flight seating might be about become more affordable (due to increased capacity) and comfortable at least for business class passengers with Acemen's patented design for universal aisle access.

      More details here, http://www.popularmechanics.com/flight/a21471/acumen-design-united-business-class-aisle-access/?mag=pop%26amp;list=nl_pnl_news%26amp;src=nl%26amp;date=062316

We saw a similar setup on our trip to Basecamp! Was a United flight I think... Chicago to Denver. First class were these huge sleeper chair things, then business class were nestled together almost like that image, staggered placement, with the exception of singles on the outer column, and doubles in the middle.

The girls have both flown first class with my wife (she often gets upgraded due to work travel...) - they asked if they were sitting in the comfy seats... and sadly, no, because we were burning points to bring the family to Basecamp.

It was indeed a pleasure to meet you, too, Mike. I wish there'd been more time to chat.

Mixed blessing having the family along. The wife was all in on me doing my thing (she had been out of town for work for 10 days prior to us leaving for CO for her own work and conference (37,000 attendees!)) - but I liked hanging out with my SKP peeps and my family. Sort of torn!

      Next time around, for sure.

Thoroughly enjoyed both attending and humbled that I was able to present on the same roster as so many rock stars here (ahem, Mr. Sonder...).

Brought the whole family. That was a treat as school just let out. The girls played while dad learned and worked. That means I kept the long nights at the fire or up the hill at the Thunderhead to reasonable hours... It also meant my intake of fine beverages was reasonable. We spent a few extra days in CO - over the Trail Ridge Road into Boulder and then a little hang out time.

Highly recommended. The vibe reminds me of past Timber Framers Guild conferences. Lots of incredible people doing all sorts of great work, and all willing to share or just hang out together.

      Life continues to be good.

    • RE: Generate Centerlines

yes, just an idea, but my flow is to build the model and take it to a certain point before handing off to an engineer for review (often getting close with my own calculations, as well as having input from the architect / client / etc.

putting the lines on a separate layer wouldn't really help me out, as the lines still break solid, wether the layer is on or off, and i typically use the solid tools quite a bit before I get to the point of needed to generating the centerlines.

    • RE: SketchUp in your browser

Saw the demo @ Basecamp... for me the use case on this could be linked to a Trimble account IF models could be locked / prevent modification or download. I do ALOT of communication with owners / clients / architects / engineers. I rarely send my SKP model, and usually use PDF and use Sketchfab... if I were to have the option of inviting someone to a model (ALA DropBox) but having that model locked, but with the same scenes, colors, materials, etc... then I can see it replacing or augmenting my current flow. Having a platform so someone doesn't need to load software is a good thing...

And, the Devs at Basecamp said this was a huge push into furthering the '3d for Everyone' - Chromebooks were the use case mentioned - but it runs in any modern browser that can handle WebGL... so schools, maker spaces, etc. etc...

From that perspective I think its a good place to spend some resources - I remember back in the day trying to find ways to use and learn AutoCAD and Photoshop / Adobe suite of tools and not having the $$ to even get my toes wet. This seems to me to be a way to work towards the goal of getting people using the tools at all levels - from K-12 on the web, Make for the DIYr, and Pro for the professional.

Yes, I want more resources spent on layers, better Pro tools, LayOut, etc. etc.
But as discussed with some of the SKP team at Basecamp - they are really starting to feel like they are rebounding from the neglect they felt during the Google years, and from the keynote it seems that Trimble is in full support (I believe their CEO was even in the audience) of integrating SKP into their portfolio of tools, as well as letting the team grow out the product.

Yes, there are lots of gripes we can have with the software and any choice the dev team makes... (I want more building design, architectural design tools and more focus on LayOut - someone else might want more surface / NURBS, etc. tools., etc. etc... it can go on and on...) - but I think and hope that after talking to many of the SKP folks from devs to product managers they have a good roadmap in place, and we'll see some good stuff coming down the pipe... maybe not everything we always wanted, but certainly steady progression of tools that build on the '3d for Everyone' roadmap.

For me, I'm just thrilled that the SKP team fought off death by Google, and escaped being acquired by AutoDeath, and that from what I've seen and heard it looks like Trimble has been and will continue to be a good partner for the team.

Yes, the basecamp kool aid is starting to wear off, but in reality - what other simple software package is open enough to be able to handle so so many different kids of work and workflows? And be approachable by kids and adults, from schools to professional firms?

To me, SKP is a smart(er) pencil, and one that keeps getting better due to the community around it, and the really over dedicated staff and devs that keep it alive and growing. But its just a pencil. How you sharpen it, what you draw on, and what you draw with are just as important as the base toolset...

Is there a plugin out there that will generate centerlines of components? I'd like to window a bunch of components and have it generate centerlines in order to speed up sending files to an engineer for analysis....

      Typical model:

I'd be happy to do this in '2d' in pieces, so I could generate centerlines for a typical bent:

you could add the centrelines in the components at first, so you
      wouldn't have to add them

which would render them non solid, so useless for using any of the solids tools.

    • RE: Orbit and Pan / Snaps 'Jerky' after OS X 10.11.4 (15E65)

If I turn on a style that has sketchy edges, the jerky motion goes away.

If I delete all the scenes, the jerky motion goes away.

If I add scenes in a simple, fast rendering style, and switch to one of them, the jerky motion comes back.
If I switch to a scene with a sketchy edge style, it goes away.

      Very odd behavior.

This has also been reported on the sketchup.com forum. It seems to depend a lot on the specific hardware, which supports the idea that it is somehow related to an input device driver change in 10.11.4. Other than using a different mouse, I haven't seen a fix as such.

tried 2 mice, and it affects the trackpad too...

will see if it affects any other 3d applications.

just got instructions for reverting to the os before i hit this (minor, i thought) upgrade...
      might have to do that.

    • Orbit and Pan / Snaps 'Jerky' after OS X 10.11.4 (15E65)

Updated El Capitan and my mouse orbit / pan and often times the inference snaps are really 'jerky'. Not as smooth as they used to be.

Tried several mice, re-installed the 3d Connexion CAD mouse drivers, etc. etc.
Pretty sure the change happened when I updated OS X El Cap to the latest version.

Odd, that my Space Mouse is smooth as ever... seems to be a pointing device or graphics driver issue.
Orbiting with trackpad when using the orbit tool shows similar behavior.

Will try to post a video later today.
      Anyone else seeing this?
Anyone know how to rollback my update?

Sorry if this question has been asked
I am using LO for construction drawings, I have some strip Windows which are at higher level than the doors. Hence the section plane can't cut through those windows and I can't see them on the plan. Does anyone have any tip or any way to solve Thi issue. Thanks

You can isolate those objects, then cut a section, and place another view / window over your plan to show only those on the plan...
