RE: Need help makeing screw edge
what happens in the regular follow me tool is that if you follow the entire loop then the shape starts to turn a little kinda like this
http://www.korthalsaltes.com/foto/twisted_rectangular_prism.jpg
but extremely small so that by the time you end the loop it seems that you can see the bottom end.

RE: Need help makeing screw edge
didn't work, looks like the problem is that the box isn't going around the loop following the lines instead it wants to stay upright and when it gets close to the sides it glitches. on the right is one segment.

RE: Need help makeing screw edge
this is a great plugin though I have another problem now, it does this when I do it,
Whats up with all those menus on the right? I didn't get those when I installed the plugin.

RE: Need help makeing screw edge
I just don't get it I got the folowme spiral done but when I follow it it ends up getting messed up, the bottom twists.

Need help makeing screw edge
see where its supposed to come together thats where the threds need to be also it has to wrap around the model at least once "preferably twice". It has to be the same way for the other part as well. Basically the top part of the right object and the bottom part of the left object need to screw together.
I dont know how to go about doing this. Maybe is easy but I got a brain fart right now PS~ the left side isn't rounded its a 90 degree angleI found a good ref pic http://www.bodymodern.com/jewelry/tunnelbigcz.jpg
This is how I want the screw teeth to look like http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/eb/Unified_Thread_Diagram.gif

RE: New at modeling
a word of advise this doesn't have anything to do with your house in general but the blue is the back faces and the white is the outside so when you orient your faces they should all be white under monochrome setting.

Errr ... not me. A dirty mind is a joy forever.
Thank God, I'm not alone
OT: is it meant not to be a circle? Or is it that you don't know how to add more sides to a circle in SU holding the design back?
I got lazy, if anyone is interested I used this pic as a reference

I'm curious, what would drive a person to do such...uhmm....modifications to one's ears?
I originally did it because I was drunk and kinda crazy but I noticed I was getting with chix because of it so it has helped my confidence. Now I think it looks cool as he11.

Thats a pretty wicked idea, how are you thinking of getting it made?
I have no idea though I want it to be done before July because thats when I get my ears to 1 inch.

Custom made Flesh tunnel for me
I already have my ears gauged to 1/2 inch and when I am done they will be 1 inch... I wanted a specific flesh tunnel but they don't make it and seeing my favorite band is Pink Floyd I decided to create custom jewelry that I will later get made.
Heres a 360 view of it hope you all like, the back screws onto the flesh tunnel. If you don't know what a flesh tunnel is it goes into your ear after you have stretched the lobe.

RE: Need constructive criticism
Finished the model but still have trouble texturing =[

RE: Need constructive criticism
Can anyone help me I don't know how to texture in sketchup. I would like to make textures but the problem is that I want to make scratches and stuff into the texture and it ends up tileing through the model I would think that uv unwrapping would be easier but there is no way for that to be done in sketchup so finding out a specific place where to put the scratches is impossible. I would like to make use of photoshop if possible does anyone how how I can uv map?

Before and after
OMG I want this plugin so bad now gotta wait until paycheck =[ Imma update all my models with this.

With whaats version you can 'crease' edges and vertices, this essentially locks them in place and subdivides geometry around them, so you can make sure bits of your model stay put when you need them to.
ok im sold im buying next weekend.

You have the wrong subdivide ruby there, the one you want is Whaat's 'Subdivide and SMOOTH'
yes I know though I thought that the subdivide would be the same thing in subdivide and smooth unless its not. I just wanna make sure I'm not wasting money =]
I'm afraid that the subdivide will end up moving the corners on the model and if it messes with the corners that would mess up the whole shape. -
RE: Subdivide and smooth
OK I found a sub division demo but I have problems now Heres the link to the demo http://www.smustard.com/script/Subdivide
Now heres my problems and I want to know if this is like this in the final version.
heres the original
heres when I subdivide
heres a closeup to the problem
This wont do this in the final version will it? I do want subdivisions in my model though I at least want to keep the basic shape.

RE: Subdivide and smooth
all rite seems fair enough I can safely say I need this program so I guess I can part with $22 but it seems quite allot for a plugin anyhow I guess I'm not THAT cheap LOL. Does this work in sketchup 7?
-
RE: Subdivide and smooth
so if I were to use this plugin my models would seem "rounder" around the edges. Say I make a blocky sphere and I use this plugin would it make it seem more natural instead of blocky? If it does then I'm sold.
