    • RE: 21 foot X-Wing that flies... VIDEO ADDED

Come on the 10th! I'm curious. Will it or won't it? It'll fly all right but will it come back to earth in flames? They would need to launch it at sea or on a very large lake well away from land to be on the safe side.
May the force be with them!
      Cheers and beers,

    • RE: Claire-Obscure rendering

:egrin: Boy oh boy, a promotion to officer class! Thanks Rob, does that mean that I get a plentiful supply of Speights 3 Star Ale, The Pride of the South? Well I suppose I could say anything but as I haven't been able to afford a beer for a while it must be subconsciously preying on my mind. If it makes you happy I shall desist and say something really cool, like "Have a nice day Sir". Sorry but I don't think it would be safe to put me in charge of morals because it's been a long hard winter here and the women are shopping for running shoes and I'm lurking in the shoe shop. πŸ˜’
Keep your bore clean and your powder dry, and lang may your lum reak.

ps. Thanks for the explanation abt MCP, never really figured out the true meaning of that phrase either, it seems like different women have different interpretations, depending on their state of mind at the time.

πŸ‘ **GREAT SHOT ERIC!**Did you get lucky and take it yourself? 😳 Is it real? 😳 I had to ask that because whenever I see a magic oneoff shot it's all over before I get the camera out.

Can you tell us something about the photo, like where, when and what camera?
      I love it to bits!!!!!!

Andy! I'm flabergasted! That sail is so realistic I can smell the salt on it! You're a craftsman without a dought!I have been trying to model my boat but it finished up looking like a tin bath, I've got a fair bit of learning to do yet. I'm having trouble with the complex curves at bow and stern. I think once I have mastered that I'll make progress. A very beautiful and realistic scene, thank you for sharing and giving me something to strive for.
      Cheers Bill.

to tell you the truth I never felt inclined to take active part in any forum. this one changed my mind. I am not only proud of it, I congratulate myself for joining it. it feels great to be part of this community!

My senitiments entirely Edson. I have looked at other forum at different times and they don't seem to make new comers welcome as these forums here. My knowledge of SketchUp and other countries has been greatly improved through scanning these pages. I use Google SketchUp Free, because of severe financial limitations, does that mean I am trespassing 😳 in the Pool? If so my very humble apologies. 😞
Thank you from the deeeeeep south.
Please excuse any spelling errors, spelling is not one of my strong points 😳

Thanks for that bit of info Maggi. "If you would place a baby in an ultra clean room directly after birth, it would not be able to digest its food."
I alway thought that all of this emphasis on cleanliness, antibiotics and sterilizing everything was getting out of hand.

This is the first time I've had a look at the Renders Forum and I am very impresed at what I see here. I use SU6&KT and I am very happy with both, although I'm still at the experimental/learning phase.
I wish all a very happy and prosperous 2008,

Thanks Pete but I'm sorry to say 😞 that it was no good for me. I'm on very slow dialup and the site took so long to download that if the grandkids were here they would have got bored and found something else to do. How I envy all of you that can get broadband. I don't even bother trying to open 'Youtube' now as it takes about 1/2 an hour to veiw a 3 minute video. 😒
Having said that I wish all a VERY MERRY XMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
It is a lovely sunny xmas day here in the deap south with a temperature of 18C.
Cheers and beers and have agood one,

      Welcome Aboard Rich!

Bill - Are you Santa? That icy avatar (North Pole?) & the white beard seem to be clues.

      Regards, Ross

πŸ˜„ No Ross, I'm not related to the portly gent in the red suit. πŸ˜› The photo was taken at Butchers Dam in Central Otago a few months ago when it was winter down here in the southern latitudes. It was a beautiful hoar frost and it stayed that way for about 10 days.
Central Otago has cold winters and sweltering summers, I go there about 4 times a year and stay with my sister. Some of the best wine in the world comes from that area.
Happy Xmas to you and all of my mates in the forum, most of you will be into winter now while I'm lolling about getting my annual suntan. πŸ˜†
      Cheers and beers to all.

    • RE: How to get a better looking circle? (higher polygon count?)

Hi betacrash and welcome to the forum. Your problem is an easy one to solve, that is why I can help, I can only do the easy ones. When you select the 'circle' tool and before you do anything else type in the number of sides you desire your circle to have. This number will appear in the VCB box at the right hand bottom corner of your screen, just above the clock if you are set up like me. The default is 24 (I think) which can be blocky so therefore type a larger number and you will get a smoother circle. I did one with 60 sides and it was very smooth even when magnified.
Have fun and always remember, if all else fails read the directions! If you go to the first or is it the second? post in the Newbie Forum you will find where to download the SU Users Guide in PDF format, you will find it to be your best friend.
      Cheers, Bill.
