TBD,
I think there will be a market for this script. Me, for one. Very cool.

Like you Tom, I only use SU5. I installed the new version of 6 and gave it a ride and still think 5 is as least as fast or faster.
Edit: Yesterday, I converted a v5 model to a v6 and today discovered the file size had doubled. I purged and purged and finally got it down to the proper weight. This is why the model seemed so sluggish. So now, I have to say that V6 is probably faster than V5.
Tom, stop, you're killin' me. My landscape folder runneth over! I...can't...stop...eating...
I am equal parts impressed and grateful for the time you spend on ruby scripting.
This eclipse script will be extremely useful. I'm suprised it's not native in SU. Thanks again.
There are 2 cabinet ruby scripts on Didier's site. I don't use them so I'm not sure if they would satisfy your requirements. Look under the "Architecture" section.

Whew, what a collection! Thank you very much, Ron. I had missed this earlier as well.
The ones I d/l'ed weren't yet welded. Maybe I'll do it again later. Thanks for doing this Charley.
RonS,
Great Site Lighting fixtures. Thank you, merci beaucoup, graci, etc. I didn't know Ruud made light fixtures. I thought they only made HVAC units
There is a drop.rb on Didier's site: http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/en_geo_page.htm.
I have and use it from time to time. I don't know how this script differs from flatten.rb as sold by Smustard.
Edit: I just realized there is a significant difference between these scripts. "Drop" will move selected object(s) up or down; there is no flattening involved.
The only problem with the dots.style is that the entire model changes.
By the way, there is also a script which will change the XLines that juju mentioned back to regular lines. Check out XLinetoLine.rb by TIG: http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDep ... o_page.htm
I use these scripts quite often. You can open the XLine script and change the length of the dashes if you want. I think these 2 scripts go hand-in-hand.
Ron
There seems to be an endless stream of functionality and work flow improvements to SU through scripts and add-ons. This one is a must-have, so long as it also works in SU5.
Kudos Rick.
Abe,
Thanks for the explanation and the kind offer. If I decide to email my file, I will let you know in advance.
I noticed that even though certain layers are turned off in SketchUp, they are visible in the Hypercosm applet. Is there a way to prevent this? Or did I miss a setting somewhere?
This is pretty cool!
Coen,
I, too, visit this site multiple times daily. It has become a part of my on-line life. It's like a fix. I need it. Gotta have it. Can't imagine life without it.

Hi bellwells,
Major and minor axis are "switchable", yes. In my example, the major axis is smaller than the minor
But it doesn't matter. I could call them "first" and "second" as well
Well, I feel like a dork. Not the first time.
Just d/l the script and will try it out. Thank you so much for this, Didier. This will prove to be an extremely useful tool.
Edit- I think "major" and "minor" axes should be switched?
Edit Again - I would do it myself, but the code seems to be scrambled when I open it in Notepad.

Just a thought... are you extruding in a direction that is possible?
(I mean not in 90 degrees from the surface normal.)
And of cause you'll have to click ok.
Other than that I dont know. Are you on Mac or Windows? And Coen, I want people to come to my site to download.
Jan,
Sorry it took me so long to acknowledge your reply. As is often the case, it was my fault-operator error.
Thanks.
