    • Video cards for Mac

I'm on a mac 2.0 dual with a basic 64mg video card. Needless to say this beast has slowed down to a crawl. It's basicly unusable after I've imported a dozen windows/doors or so.
My ? Will a 128mg card with open GL support show significant improvement? or do I need to find a bigger card. The larger cards are very hard to find, maybe impossible. Will I be wasting my $330 on the 128?
      Thanks for any insight.

    • RE: I want my pan/orbit back

Well I finally stumbled on it.
FYI, on this mouse it's called "middle click"
That may mean something else on other mice.
      Thanks
      Barry

    • I want my pan/orbit back

How would/should I program my new Logitec MX400 7 button mouse to get the temporary pan>shift/orbit, on scroll wheel, back? This is a Mac Tiger 10.4.11 machine.

      Thanks Guys,
It would seem that I do indeed need to learn to use the"inference engine efficiently"
My poor little brain seems to get easily lost in this program. It's just not as intuitive as Photoshop was, for me anyway. With your help I am getting there.

    • Repulsive

When trying to align 2 objects, i.e. a smaller square exactly in the corner of a larger square the 2 repulse each other as though they were the same poles of a magnet. How do I over come this?

    • RE: Importing pencil drawing

      Thanks Guys,
I opened in Photoshop, cropped out the extraneous stuff, down sampled to 1024px max.,imported to SU, all is well! Now I can easily trace it.
      Much Thanks

    • Importing pencil drawing

      Hi Gang, newbee here,
I have a PDF of a 24"x36" architectural drawing. If I open in Photoshop or Illustrator and zoom in it's fine/clear. When imported to SU, I zoom in far enough to be able to see the detail well enough for tracing, the resolution goes to hell and it's unusable.
What do I need to know before I pay to have a future job scanned?
      Thanks for any insight!

    • RE: Saving textures

      Thanks for replying Alan,
But so far no go. Maybe a Mac thing or more likely a "Bumble Headed"thing
Here's a step by step of what I need to do:
Fill a surface with a linear texture, Scale and/or rotate texture, save as new texture, fill dozens of other model surfaces without having to scale/rotate each.
Problem: I can "right-click"(control>click on a Mac)anywhere in the mat. Pallet and the only options available are:

      1. New Material- this imports a new mat./texture
      2. Remove
      3. Duplicate- a copy of original
      4. Edit- Allows me to colorize the original and scale all instances of that texture in the model at once, not just selected surfaces.
There is no dialog, that I can find, for saving my new texture.
        My Head Hurts!

    • Saving textures

I feel like a real idiot trying to learn this one! 😳
I'm on a Mac/Tiger/SKP6. I can't figure out how to save an altered texture.Once I scale a texture how do I get it saved? I've tried to follow every tut I could find-no luck. Please make your reply "for Dummies", it only took me 3hrs to figure out what "context click" meant. πŸ˜’
