Can't really get it working with errors. Just took S Shepherds test to use it in my project for the moment. Thanks!

RE: Cross-drillings with offset
Thanks Dave and gilles, you were right, that was the problem.
However, it does not work directly after scaling the object. I have to save the SKP file first, then a popup says "there are smaller problems in your models that can be fixed by sketchup", after then clicking "fix it" it works, and afterwards I can rescale it.
However, the component method does not work for me, because after scaling the component, the "small problems"-popup does not appear when saving, and also the bigger component has the same problem when intersecting.Do you know that popup message?
But without that method it does work at least./Edit: Hm, seems that after that "fix" it has split the cylinders in multiple other polygons

RE: Cross-drillings with offset
Hm, most of the times I try it with a new draft, it does work.
However, I have attached an example file in which it does not work.
Cut function not applied yet, please try it.What is the problem in that file?
/β¬: After applying the cut function, I can see a new line on the other hole when I look through the top hole.

First question is, are working small size?
SU have issue intersecting tiny edges, so if some are under 1mm length intersect may not proceed.
Scale up your model X100 or X1000 and retry, scale down the down the model when job is done.
Thanks for the idea, tried that already, it's the same.

Cross-drillings with offset
Hi SketchUp community,
I have a problem, please see images attached.
When I make holes from two sides of a block that cross exactly at the same height in the middle, I have no problems applying the "cut" function to seperate the 4 sides that are inside where the two holes meet and to delete them. Then I can see through both holes.
However, when one hole is slightly shifted (see first image, cut function not applied yet, you can see the the surface of the other hole through the front hole), most of the times it does not work. I can delete two surface parts of the one cylinder, but at the other one I can't select just the cutout (see 2nd image, I'd like to delete the surface within the lines which it created after applying the cut function, but it does not seem to be a correct closed line that only runs on the faces of the visible hole, so it always selects the whole cylinder instead of just that part).
How can I solve this?
Thank you very much.

RE: [Plugin] Xref Manager
Hi TIG,
what do you think of my suggestions?
Best,

Ok.
A few more feature requests:
- The definition name of the "outer" XREF component seems to be derived from the "source" file's name. Could this component name please refresh as well when I re-bind a file and the file name has changed? (maybe as an option in the XREF settings)
- When I insert the same source object twice (e.g. by an oversight), your plugin makes two different components with different definition names (#xx). In the manager they are listed as separate components.
There could be an option in the settings what to do if an object is already in the project:
- create a separate component
- copy the former one
- ask again
(if that's not possible, there could be at least an popup message saying that this object was already inserted)
Thanks for the great work,
Best regards
FelixIt would also be nice to have an option to have a prefix for the xref component's name. So that when I set e.g. 'XREF: ' as prefix, all components created by xref get the name 'XREF: <filename of ref'd file>'. This way I can avoid that if I have a component in my "source" file already with a name the same as the file name, one of the nested components gets '#1' added to it's name (avoids confusion and makes my parts list created by the Cutlist plugin prettier).

Hi. Thanks for the great plugin.
"Pick Type of XREF Checking On Opening: Open XREF Manager if needed" is selected, but the dialog does not show up when opening a file. What's wrong?
Thanks
What is your OS?
This is a "PC only" [experimental] feature to auto-check for a needed update of any xrefs when you open a SKP.
You can easily use the tool 'manually'...Windows 7

RE: Crossing drilling holes

You must be doing something incorrectly. I just made that example a few moments ago and it works exactly as I described. Perhaps you haven't got a complete intersection. Can you post the SKP file so I can see it?
Correction: I could only delete one of the four unwanted areas.
See file attached (removed anything unnecessary).

This is a case where you would select the geometry of both holes and use Intersect Faces>With Selection to create the required intersected surfaces. then select and delete the unwanted faces.
When I do this, welds do appear in the form of lines at the intersection points of both holes. But when I try to select the unwanted area through one of the holes now, it selects both pipe surfaces together including the unwanted area in the middle.

Crossing drilling holes
Hi folks,
I'm a Sketchup newbie and have a question about crossing drilling holes.
See screenshots attached. The holes are at the same height of the beam and should run entirely through it.
However, at the crossing point both still have this mantle, which is visible when looking through the other hole. How can I fix this?
Thank you!
