I have figured out how to do it in sketchup like you have done but it does not transfer right into kerkythea, plus the model is a clay model so i cant bring any textures into kerkythea. Thanks for the help though

NEED HELP CREATING A MATERIAL ASAP
Hey Ladies and Gents
I have a favor that i need help with ASAP. Ive spent the last 3 days trying to get this to work but am not skilled enough in translucency to create this material in Kerkythea. There is a material called litracon which strings fiber optic cables through concrete to allow the transmittance of light through the wall. Making it apper the objects on the inside or casting shadows on the wall. So a person walking on one side of the wall is a black outline of himself on the opposite side. I have attached a texture of the concrete and an example of what i need it to do.Any help would be MUCH appreciated need an example of it by tommorrow morning lol
THANKS in Advance

RE: Looking for a Sketchup Model
You guys are awesome, thanks so much for the help, and the link. Looks like i need to do some more investigation into 3D model sites!

Looking for a Sketchup Model
This may sound wierd but I am looking for a sketchup model of FLW's Unity Temple I tried searching at the 3D Warehouse and had no luck any one know where I could find it.

Reading Material
Does anyone have some suggestions on reading material for rendering systems coming from sketchup? Programs such as Kerkythea, or Podium...etc?

Materials Revisited
Well Ladies and gents I am back to the same problem I began with, I am now working on a standing seam roof and am having the same problem I was having in my Materials post. When I bring my model into Kerkythea it is picking and choosing certain roof sections to rotate the material on so that instead of running verticaly the seams are running horizontally. I have tried rotating the texture before sending it in but to no avail. Im thinking the problem is somehow in the material I made in Kerkythea to assign to the model upon bringing it into Kerkythea. But this was simply exporting the material in sketchup as a texture image and assigning it to a new material in a library in Kerkythea.
I've attached a jpg of the problem and a sketchup file showing a portion of the roof
Any thoughts?Running till Tackled

RE: Join Tool?
The delete Coplanar edges seems to be the idea, but im not sure how to implement that, do you have a download for a ruby tool?
-
RE: Join Tool?
Just a flat wall with a lot of intersecting mullions that need a solution lol
-
RE: Join Tool?
Ya but see the problem is there are quite a few interestions and we would like it to automatically fix the intersections like sketchup sometimes does when you put two faces together using a push and pull. To do them all would take days clicking each individual intersection

Join Tool?
I asked this in the sketchup forum, but figured it is more fitting in the ruby forum
There are two seperate objects not grouped, one a vertical 2x4 and one a horizontal 2x4, they are placed to join in the middle but in sketchup the intersecting lines show, as they should if you place one board into the joint of another, but what if you decide it is going to be one piece of wood or metal and wanted those lines at the intersection to disappear as to make a seamless piece of material in the chape of a plus sign. Is there a Join tool someone has designed to do this?
A colleague has done this basically to create a glass curtain wall with aluminum mullions about the size of a 2x4, and at each intersection there are overlapping lines but the client upon seeing this wants to see it without the intersecting lines.
Anyone have an idea?Eric

Join Tool?
Maybe I should be asking this in the ruby forum but i figured i would ask here, does anyone know of a tool which would work in this situation

RE: Materials
So heres a funny one, now that i rotated the texture in sketchup and sent it to kerkythea, I had to make some changes so i went back to sketchup, resent it to kerkythea with the shingles rotated to account for the wierd texture orientation and now it has turned the texture 90 degrees again in kerkythea, any ideas now?

RE: Materials
After heading home for the day from work and tackling it this morning, your method did work, thanks for all the help would not have known that feature was there

RE: Materials
there in lies the problem, they are correct in SU i tried it originally (all the shingles are horizontal and the modified way, (changing the direction of the material) and both times it is facing with rows of shingles vertically lol any more ideas lol?

RE: Materials
Will this work even if the material is applied correctly in SU?
