    • RE: Podium and sketchup

      Gaieus,

that's what i'm doing now. i made a copy of the file and making a mess of that one.....while doing that, i just thought, there is probably easier way of doing this. apperently not.

okay it sort of works now......improvement is being made, allthough it looks like the model is attached to the points by a rubber band. can't have everything i guess.

    • Podium and sketchup

      dilema......

podium, easy and nice result but......
podium doesn't support sections. i want to use podium to make nice shadings of my floorplans. the only way i can see that happening is by cutting up my model 5 feet above each floor (making a plane for each section, exploding the whole model, do the intersecting thing.....with this sketchup is exploding itself, it's a big model etc.etc. a lot of work, and the model gets messy because of having to explode all groups and components.

      does anybody have suggestions

      Remus,

      here is the testfile.

i already tried to pull a couple of points....again didn't work.

in the lastest version of the ffd ruby there is no FFD update.

      Remus,

      thanks for the effort.

i installed the FFD. but i can move the controlpoints but the actual shape doesn't do anything. i tried it with a normal square, same result.

      • i made a square
      • grouped it
      • select, rightclick, ffd, NxN, 10x10
      • a pointgrid is created
      • i opened the pointgrid and moved a couple of points and....

      nothing happened.

    • RE: Workflow - best way to use Sketchup > Illustrator > Indesign

what i do is creating floorplans by making sections. Using layout for making the lines (in the styles section. i use 0,18) thinner and making sure of the right scale. then i export them to pdf-file (at 300 dpi).

now you can use photoshop to fill in the sectioned walls. Make sure when saving to save as pdf AND jpeg.......with pdf you can reuse the layer structure to alter the picture. Use the jpeg for indesign. pdf's made in photoshop will corrupt the indesign file.

    • RE: Structure

I looked at the soap-skin and bubble and it looks like a good start for creating a skin-like structure. but then there the next problem.....the offset to either the outside or inside to create depth and thicknes (like the examples). even rhino has problems with offset. but there one can select a shape and then offset the complete shape.
