      Hi Anton
I am loving the potential of Clothworks but am struggling with it constantly crashing Sketchup when I press go on the simulation. I have tried reinstalling extension and simplifying my model. It seems to be connected with applying the grid prior to the simulation. I am using Sketchup Make 2017 on the following machine spec 16gb ram,
      Operating System
      Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 1903 (build 18362.778)

      System Model
      Apple Inc. MacBookPro11,5 1.0

      Processor
      2.50 gigahertz Intel Core i7-4870HQ

      Thanks for your help
      Ric

Hi Ric! Thank you for your sincere feedback! Does this crash with every model, or just a particular one? If it is a particular model, can you attach it with a post that I could investigate the issue? You can also, instead, email it to (clothworks@sketchucation.com) Thanks!

It may also be an issue with a graphics card as Dave pointed out in the post above. In that case, try reducing the grid resolution you apply to your cloth.

Yes! I see the outcome and the benefit of having a plugin for creating water, soap, and foam animations. Brush contact effects would be beneficial as well. I will look into this. If no one else begins working on this, I will develop this plugin upon updating my other plugins.

I have been trying to create another flag. The first one I create a year or so ago worked great. This time, however, my context menu is not showing ClothWorks → Make Cloth or ClothWorks → 1 Cloth → Apply Quadrilateral Grid. What am doing wrong? I am using Sketchup 2019 and have your latest plug-in as well as sketchucation's latest plug in. I have installed both and restarted SUP 2019. Still no context menu with Clothworks in it.

Hi! Is your flag grouped and is it a top-level group? If so, is your ClothWorks installed? To check if ClothWorks is there, you should see ClothWorks in your Extension Manager window.

Hi. Great question! ClothWorks shared materials (the ones you manage with Save and Rename buttons) are only bound to a SketchUp model creating them. To use the same materials in another model, simply export them from your previoous model and import them into your new model. Make use of:

      • (Menu) > Extensions > ClothWorks > Export Materials
      • (Menu) > Extensions > ClothWorks > Import Materials

    • RE: Mantaflow

So, as one use case, you're aiming to simulate water droplets over a collidable surface with the influence of gravity and other forces. Because SketchUp is really slow with generating geometries, it may only be practical to draw simulation with SketchUp OpenGL API (currently limited and not exportable with images) just for the visualization purpose or even render in a separate OpenGL window (faster but may be more complicated). Then, we can generate water blob geometries from particular frames of the simulation and then replay those particular frames as an animation in SketchUp (by hiding and showing particular blob and droplet groups with time). The only concern here is the file size that the resulting animation could take. Nevertheless, this is possible. If Mantaflow has options to convert particle blobs into triangular meshes, then consider plugin complexity cut in half.

This should be an interesting plugin to develop utilizing Mantaflow or another fluid library. I don't think I am currently able to this, but will definitely tackle this in the future, unless someone else wants to tackle this first.

Hi Dave! Is there a specific use-case you're looking to achieve with Mantaflow, or particle effects in general, in SketchUp? I believe turning particle effect results into edge/face geometry would overwhelm SketchUp.

What if flying simulation in msp2 ?
You mean aerodynamics? I am planning to implement Newtonian drag (already developed in ClothWorks for simulating flags and parachute effects). Newtonian drag alone does not provide accurate results, as it does not involve turbulence and additional actors, but should yield useful results for simulating wings.

There is nothing to be illustrated. Just opened toolbar. I cannot move it (a cursor becomes white while moving it on it) no button (tools) can be clicked.

When you say, "toolbar", do you the Window Settings UI or any SketchUp toolbar, such as the Principal/Edit?

      @pipinek said:

Also after SU opened there tool tooltips are not available.

This could be due to the fact that you have the "Retain on Start" option checked, which applies your saved settings when you open SketchUp. And your save settings have the toolbar container marked as hidden. To fix this, either disable the "Retain on Start" option or "Save" the desired layout, which you would want applied when you restart Sketchup.

As a side note, I do realize the Window Settings UI is a little old and could use some improvements and reduction in size. I am looking forward to updating this plugin. Thanks.

Does it exist a library of mechanisms for MSP? I can find only a dozen models on warehouse.

As mentioned earlier, MSPhysics 1 has weak joints, in which case creating mechanical interconnections between rods, suspension, robotic arms, and what not, makes the resulting structure weak and loose, unless all interconnected groups have an identical mass. MSPhysics 2 should be able to address this issue. I haven't yet tested that, and I am a little behind with my promises on the development of the project, but as mentioned earlier, I am very exited to utilize the newer NewtonDynamics version for this, which showed promising results with the stable and robust interlinked joint behavior.

Yes, scripting will still be available with MSPhysics2. The scripting API will be different, however.

Yes I did, still the same error every time

@iichiversii It is possible that you have SketchUcationTools installed in multiple plugin folders, which causes only one (and the unwanted one) to be loaded. Please perform the following steps to ensure that you have only one installation:

      1. Close SketchUp (if open)
      2. Open your File Explorer
      3. Paste the following into the address bar:
        %programdata%\SketchUp\SketchUp 2020\SketchUp\Plugins
Replace 2020 with 2019 if you're using a prior SketchUp version. Press the enter key. This should navigate you the first plugins folder if the folder exists.
      4. If the folder exists, delete SketchUcationfolder and SketchUcation.rb file.
      5. Now, navigate to the other folder, by pasting the following into the address bar: %appdata%\SketchUp\SketchUp 2020\SketchUp\Plugins and also delete the SketchUcation folder and file.
Upon performing the steps above, you should then do a fresh installation of the SketchUcationTools:
      • Download latest SketchUcationTools at the following URL: https://sketchucation.com/resources/plugin-store-download
      • Open SketchUp
      • Access and select (Menu) Extension Manager
      • Within the extension manager window, click on the Install Extension button
      • Select the downloaded pluginstore.rbz file and click Open.
Upon performing the steps, your SketchUcationTools should start working again (unless the issue has to due with what TIG mentioned in the previous post).

If this does work, ensure that you don't have any other duplicate plugins installed.

      Hope this helps.

      Oh, splendid.
      Than you.

Alas I have noticed one issue with the plugin.
Once active whilst I open/activate a toolbar it is completely frozen. As if it does exist on the screen except its visual presence there.
The only way to touch it with the effect is to disable/unable an option Setting-Toolbar Containers. But in that case some docked icon are slightly displaced. Have to replace them.

I will appreciate any piece of advice.
      Thank you in advance.

Could you elaborate what's going on, perhaps with a screenshot? I am not able to quite make out what's going on.

I reset your seat count. Thank you for letting me know.

Currently, to reset your seat count, contact clothworks@sketchucation.com. Include your SketchUcation username in the email.

Hello. It seems like you're trying to assign a Pin property to the selected object from within a group. If so, this is not exactly the way to do it. You must a assign a pin property to the outer, top-level group. The inner groups will be treated as sub-pins automatically.

The ClothWorks context menu is mostly available to top level groups and components. Let me know if this answers your question.

Cool news! By the way, I'm interested if you could possibly do a feature to place patterns on flat surfaces and then project it to hard, that is to say, such surfaces with which "flowify" or other similar plugins can not work. Look as an example my screenshot. Such a feature presents in Maya, see the video about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeJEthJe6cQ. So how do you think is it possible to realize in SU or what? Thanks!

Though it will make too many edges that SU will not be able to work with.

Why not use Blender for wrapping?

Loop subdivision in ClothWorks is a great function because it's easy to project a texture on a flat surface and then with the help of switching drape button see the result on a simulated surface. But I think it works badly. Because after applying loop subdivisions edges lose its vector what causes a texture to be deformed. Look the difference how subD plugin does it and how ClothWorks.

Thank you for your comment. I recall working on a fix a few months ago (and I believe I composed a couple of solutions). I had additional things planned for the new version, which I haven't got to yet, and figured to delay the release. When I get access to my desktop PC, I will re-prioritize the changes to allow for a sooner new release.
