I do not know what IES means but I suppose it is a file attached to a component giving all datas for it.
In my case I get the full catalog of Philips, or Thorn and other companies right on a click. Of course, if Lightup had a bridge, all these manufacturors datas could be uploaded in it.
What I wanted to tell was the simplicity and rapidity of that way, and the plus of the lumen diagram (that Light up does not show).

How to set lighting caracteristics of electrical fixtures: such as shape of light spectrum and lamp intensity with accurate parameters? What I find in the procedure with Calculux/dialux.. is the database for automatic settings of exact lights caracteristics. (maybe it is a false certitude)
In the above example, my aim was to give evidence of the choice I made to the town I am working for.
With SU alone, or Lightup that I use, I feel I give only a general opinion, not the proof that THE chosen lights will make the job.
I love SU for filling the gap between my ideas and a my sketches, but when it comes to transfering to contractors I change to another soft.

The difference with lightup, is that it is made with real fixtures,
with exact optic, intensity and lamps that will be installed.
It is not a nice presentation. The candelabre are Philips made, and if
you ask I can give you the exact reference.Lamps are iodure 100W.
The second shot shows the exact luminosity on the ground in lumens.
Out of that study, I can propose to my client a true solution.

This one was made with dialux, a soft which comes with a fixture library. Library contains spectrum, range of lamps and all lighting datas.
There are several soft like this.
Calculation took 5 minutes, the difficulty was to prepare the SU file in order to avoid the over capacity of the soft.

Here is a study made directly from SU, with real scale, real lights on 8m poles.
The difficulty is to get real reflection of objects.
The road was gray on our presentation, we had to turn it to black to get an approximate rate.
The second image is the lumen intensity on ground, which is here over 20 per sqm, intensity needed for handicaped people.

May I bring my experience to your question
For your information, a simple full creation for a small house, with administrative papers , plan, facade and enhace in the terrain, one rendering, is sold 1500 to 2000 euros taxes incl. here in France; your job would seem to me around 150€ per view; if I was to buy it I would ask for more environnement for that price.

tu devrais changer de clavier, celui que tu utilises n'affiche qu'un caractere sur deux

A premiere vue je te suggererais de verifier le profil "template" que tu utilises, ou de le recreer des l'ouverture, en enregistrant tes parametres de depart dans le sous-repertoire template du repertoire Google6, des que ton affichage est correct.

I tried Antics, but it is far complicated just to have a car go along a street, or somebody crossing a road.
Instead of going to the soft by export, I would prefer the soft to come to SU.
In fact we have made the choice of rendering and animating all projects, instead of only big ones, that is why podium is useful for us; one of us is brilliant with another renderer, he failed exporting OBJ with a 80Mo view in full hierarchy. It ended with Podium

Les cartes ATI ne sont pas recommandees par rapport au Nvidia pour SU, je te suggere de regarder sur le site les discussions sur le choix des cartes. Ci-dessus une discussion a propos des cartes

cela pourrait venir du soleil qui est actif, le recalcul des ombres peut etre long,
ou une sauvegarde sur une cle USB ou un media lent....
Malheureusement il y a beaucoup de raisons
Recemment nous avons mis 12 h pour exporter un fichier de 80Mo en 3DS, et en plus ca plantait en "full hierarchie"

Juste un dernier mot
L'existence d'un dessin de base de caractere est pour moi une benediction; en effet pour une premiere esquisse il n'est pas necessaire de faire un deuxieme passage de mise en forme graphique pour obtenir un dessin presentable.
Ta remarque me semble injuste.
Par ailleurs tu peux creer ton propre style, et si tous les traits de parametrage sont continus et complets, tu n'auras pas pas d'effets pointilles a craindre
