Steam Punk TV
Hi all,
I have not been able to do anything for fun with SU for ages, for some reason I was really inspired last night and made this steam TV/printer.

I could do it fast but not here In any case you'll all need some normal maps for the jeans and UVs of course. I'll keep saying this until some guys will listen. I'll stay tuned.
Of course, Maya, 3d Max, or Blender would do better and faster, but in fact it is quite a challenge to do it with SU, I even did the logo with SU... well it took me about 3hours, but that was fun.

mm I like your ideas... a race track seems incredibly boring to me... sorry guys.
What about modelling a city; it could work very well with your 'work together'-thing: everyone gets assigned a lot, and (maybe) some basic planning guidelines. But maybe it's "overdone" too...
Still. I like it. Every city is unique and every building in this imaginary city will be unique as well.
The city idea, is a great idea!

RE: Blender Information / Advice Thread
Yes it is difficult to find the preferences menu in Blender 2.49 and Golden Frog is right to mention where you can find it, but if you are using the 2.5 alpha 2 version you can just find it in the file menu.
A tip for all laptop users, you can go into preferences menu and check emulate numpad, in fact it is indispensable as numbers are used to switch between different views.
I am saying that because so many new users using laptops (like me) got very frustrated the first time using Blender with this and are looking for a solution to be able to work normally with Blender. -
RE: This chair drives me crazy
Hi,
I think this tutorial will help you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7sdl-bhlyM, that is the way I did the chair, but that's not the only way, it is also possible to start from a cube or a simple rectangle, find the method you are the most confortable with, and watch a lot of tutorials.

Ive noticed that your models show a more square shaped behind. In top view it should be more oval, if i interpret the photos right. Maybe try FFD plugin to fix this?
I think your interpretation is correct, actually we should ideally always save our base mesh somewhere, so that we could always go back to it when we realize we cannot undo anymore and our surface is already subdivided.
I do not not if there is a plugin allowing to switch between base and subdivided mesh but that would be very cool.

Solo has shown a workflow on another chair here. He modeled polygons and later extruded them with JPP...
Yes I have also use this plugin on the current model.

RE: This chair drives me crazy
Hi jo-ke,
I have also made an attempt, here is the model and a shot of the mesh before and after subdivision.
Edit: I notice after posting that the profile is not correct it should be more curvy on both bottom sides the mistake is quite noticeable on my back view.

RE: Im no noob but this is a chalenge to me...
Hi Cookieschredder,
It is rounded, not sure if this is exactly what you want to do but no need ruby to achieve this,

RE: New plugin for the facade
Hi,
Didier is right, I think lattice maker also from TIG would be very appropriate to do model the second facade.

RE: Iphone 4G
Yeah I think you are right CoreMaster, I have basically tried to make a sort of backlighted keyboard but the render is not very good, I got to learn a lot on this, here is a version with dark grey inscriptions, sort of macbook color combo actually.
Will try now to work on some other SU works that I will submit soon.
Cheers

I had really a lot of fun doing this and wanted to share it.
C&C welcome.

RE: Model This: helmet
Hi, thanks to the help of Solo I could also do it in few minutes! Rest to model the inside and I cannot figure out how to model it as fast as the helmet.
I see it is not perfect but I think jst a little of scaling tool here and there and should be identical.

RE: Troubles In Kerkythea
Hi Lapis Lazuli,
Install kerkythea in applications folder, exec file is called kertkythea. You might not be able to launch the program if you do not have X11 already installed make sure you have it, it should work.
