I believe displacement is under the belt, now the next thing I need to get a grip of is D.O.F, anyone got any good tips that can help?

Hi there SOLO, first off, really great results there,
second would you mind sharing the SKP of the rug also so i can dissect the vray settings and the disp image??

      Hmm looking nice, as a point of view from an interior architecture student I would add some more color as the following;

-It looks like you like the color red, white and red are a good combination you've made IMO but I would make the color
come back on some spots, like on some walls, here an example of which walls I would make red (btw, if you plan to use it don't
use plain red, but a somewhat deeper red which will create a nice mood with your indirect illumination.

-Also you could try to use a warmer coloured wood, don't get me wrong by saying warmer more 'red', but a darker
wood with more brown in it.

Hope this might help you and you like it, of course this is just based on what I would prefer to have and some knowledge from school..

      Cheers,
      FoXy ^^

Yes it does help, because i did kind of feel like it was getting a little too white, if you know what i mean, i do appreciate your input and insight, i really love your ideas, and will be implementing them pretty soon. the wall will be no problem, but I'll have to find a good texture for the floor material, because right now i have non hahahaha, but I'll try to find something that fits your description, so i can implement it in,
and again thank you for you help.

      a small update....
in the second image you can see that the windows are big enough to let a lot of natural light come trough....

added a couple more stuff to make it more PR, and changed the counter tops to mach the cabinets, like suggested. I'm quit pleased with the change.

Don't like the colour of the worktop - would be better using a colour similar to your cabinet doors in a kitchen style like that.

wouldn't it make the area to WHITE?
I really do apreciate your advice, because this might be the house that i end up building to live in, so any advice does help.

      @d12dozr said:

Looks pretty good, although I would expect more lights in the ceiling, and maybe not as shiny a ceiling.

I'm going for an indirect illumination, this is why i have the reflective ceiling
I'll post later on some images of the window/doors so you can see that even without turning on the light it's still going to have enough light coming through.

Just spotted another wee error on the model - the extractor hood is way too low to be practical - need at least 600mm between the top of the cooking surface and the bottom of the extractor to give a workable height for moving pots & pans easily. Sorry to criticise

actually it is exactly 650mm πŸ˜„
maytbe because of the angle of the shot it looks a bit narrow,
      but there's quite enough space.
I sat down with my "Neufert's Architects' Data"book when i was drawing up this house πŸ˜„

Excellent Modo 401 show piece, so how is the new Modo so far?

Well haven't played to much with it, only been test running it.....the "fur" ellement is just amazing...i'll see if i can post a sample of it used to creat a grass field.
as you could see the caustics also looks good, even though i have a dual core machine, it renders pretty fast (see the caustics render screengrab), i am now going to try out the blurry refractions...
      but all in all, amazing.
it's a bit more aimed now for archvis with all the presets that can be used,
i am definitly going to learn how to use it, so i can add it to my archvis workflow.

If you've already put the effort into photorealistic though I wouldn't be so quick to go back to SU for non-photorealism. Why not just take your PR renders and turn them into NPR via Photoshop? I've had pretty good luck with that approach on occasion.

well i didn't go back to SU for the NPR...not completly anyways...I used Thom's vray tools to get the exact camara angels used for the PR renders, to get the line works in SU and using the existing PR renders i already had...went into PhotoShop and created the NPR images.

I'll upload the line work and PR images so you can have a look at what i had to work with.

I like these. The grass and sky are very pleasing. The one thing that jumps out at me however is that all the trees are the same. Mix those up and I think you have something worth presenting. Good luck.

Thanx for the kind words mate, i will see what i can find so i can mix the trees up a bit,
i did have the presentation today with the client, and he was very happy with the results....but for my own portfolio, i'll be updating the project with your suggestion.

Really nice effect! The ground in the last image looks a bit plain, maybe you could liven it up a bit?

      thnx you to mate,
i'll see what i can do about the grass in the last image....i tried to not have the same workflow in PS on the images so they do not come out looking exactly the same, but i quess somethings can't be avoided or mixed up πŸ˜„

    • RE: Tower blocks

nice render mate......one question, what was your workflow from SU 2 Modo?
because I am also learning Modo, but importing SU files are a hassle due to the triangulation, so you end up with way to many polygons that you don't need, if it possible to make some kind of tutorial i would apreciate it a lot, seeing that you got a very impresive result out of the SU2MODO procces.

again really nice images, as always, can't expect anything less than "great" from you mate πŸ˜„

      Hy there one and all
I've been working on a project here at work....all the images i have done were photoreal renders, but the client asked if I could do some type of non-photoreal artist impresion for him, so i've been doodling around with some pre-renderd images in Photoshop and came up with these....some input and c&C would be verry welcomed.

Not too sure about this one. Have been staring at this for hours now. Can't tell anymore whether to ditch it or not.

      I vote "NOT" 😜
I like the design and the render, maybe if you do stick with it you might even improve on it,
weet nooit wat er kan gebueren als je inzet heeft. πŸ˜„

one crit i have, seeing the name of the picture,
the d.o.f. is a bit to much on the other tower, at first i thought it was a blurry reflection of the tower, but then realized it's another tower behind. maybe lessen the d.o.f. or remove it completely,
because of you're style, it would be darker than the front tower making it blend in the darkness.

    • RE: Black Hawk

I really like it....stills and animation....
only crit i have and maybe those are also unavoideble, because i do not know how hypershot works....is that the reflection on the wood that the hawk is sitting on is a tat bit to reflective...and the other is the shadows that are following the camera....other than that, it's an incredible render mate.
