Yes Dennis, we'd be very interested! We may want to take a look at the file to see where it's crashing. Let us know about your test, and we'll go from there.

Thank you also to Sketchy and Paul Miller. We appreciate it. It truly hurts us when something goes wrong that affects you guys in a negative way.

I've said it before...WE CARE A LOT ABOUT YOU GUYS! We're working very hard on the future of SketchUp and quality is on the top of the list. We've also noted the problems over the past year with delivery and communication and we aim to not repeat any mistakes.

Please continue to have faith in us. We're working harder and smarter every day. πŸ˜„

      Cheers,

I have many objections about working (google su team) smarter (at least). And please don't use @Last name any more.

          Anssi,
          Thank you for the suggestion.
Yes, I know that and did delete the plist file before posting. But that didn't solve the problem ... 😎
          Thank you anyway.

The update worked great for me. Now finally we can import and export Acad 2007/2008 files.
I was wondering when they were going to get around to this. It was a definite hassle having to export in 2004 format before importing to SketchUp.

I've tried the update on my macbook and
                a) it installed as 6.4.120
                b) the beachballing selection actually seems worse

Sigh. I hate to see a load of work not actually solve a problem.

I've noticed a bit of choking down too....

CraigD, what is your recommended graphics card size? I assume it will change from what was listed when V6.0 was released.

I downloaded it and so far I haven't come across any problems at all.
Actualy, I don't see much of a difference.
                    Is there anything different?

If you don't know where you're going, you're never going to get there.

                      Hi all,

Where did 6.4.112 come from, I can only find 6.0.01313 ?

I just tried to install the latest upgrade, the install crashed with a catastrophic failure(their words)... now Layout will not open because it cannot seem to find the licence file.....Any ideas ?

                      Thanks

                      Paul

                        Paul,

101313 is our internal build number from our build machine. 6.4.112 is the Sketchup.exe version number. They are one in the same. Have you been able to uninstall and/or reinstall SketchUp to get it working? What part of the install process did the crash happen? Did you install over the existing installed SketchUp or did you uninstall and do a clean install of M4?

Gidon, M4 only contains changes to support the importing and exporting of ACAD DWG 2007. We made one Ruby change to support DWG exporting and we did some localization changes. That's it. No new features, no other code changed. Hope that helps.

IMHO Sketchup progress is poor and very limited. @Last days left and never come back again. Sorry but I cannot express my thoughts correct because English is not my native language. Last update was the last drop. I will stay with pro version 5 and memories of a great piece of software that lost in the dust.

                              Thank you

                                I don't know guys...

I think we should be happy that some people of the SketchUp Team is participating these forums (in their free time) and try to help us out both with technical support and with information when we are lost. As I'm starting to know them they are doing this because they are at least as SketchUp enthusiasts as we all are. In the worst case they are here to explain (and eventually apologize for) a mistake they (or anyone else in the team) have made but for me it seems that they have done it correctly.

I'd really like to keep these guys here - not for my own sake but for that of the whole community we all are building here together (and yes; together with them) - so could we just calm down a little bit, put all the ranting and sentiments aside and if there is a technical issue with SketchUp, concentrate on it?

And English is not my mother tongue either so if there is anything misinterpetable in my post you can be sure that it was not intentional from my side. I don't mean to scold anyone or act like a moderator now...

                                Gai...

I really agree with you Gai. I have found that this is generally a very constructive and creative forum. I would love to see it stay that way, I have learned so much from it.

I have noticed that negative ranting tends to gain momentum in forums and it changes the tone of the threads over time. People just start posting the same negative rants over and over again "the magic is gone", "Google doesn't care about us", "they never give me what I want" etc.. It drives away constructive and creative people that like the program and want to talk about how it is used. Your posts will decide what kind of forum this is. I am casting my vote for posts with some level of maturity and a constructive approach to problems as they come up.

That's my 2 cents. Does anyone else want to see a more constructive tone in our posts and less doom and gloom?

Absolutely, Sketchy...even though politics and SU6 are the only subjects most of us get negative about, I'm all for a moderate approach to problems as they arise...(initially :`)

And I'm sure most of this bunch will soon (if they haven't already) get over this update oops even though it seems, to me at least, a rather big rhin0ser0s to miss...especially since the "@last" has jumped on it so quickly: thank you again.

So in the spirit of being constructive I ask, Brad, Craig: What is being done about "unresponsive" nature of SU6 compaired to SU5...software-wise? And what can we do...hardware-wise, to help alleviate this ongoing (and, it seems to me, increasing) problem. I really would like to use just one version of SketchUp in my workflow...really!

                                      Thanks, Tom.

Bruce, no such stuff on my machine...and I clean the registry (with free software, yes :`) since you suggested such several months ago.

It still may be my machine, and I am quite willing to do something (quite a bit, actually) about it...but the same task taking longer after an update, on the same day!, screams: code! But you're right, I'm only guessing.
