So what's in 6.4.112?
-
just opened SU and got an update download but I can't seem to find any release notes. Can anyone steer me to the notes?
Thanks

Here's some notes:
Sucks, sucks, and sucks some more!
Totally bogged down my graphics card, the couple of exports I wanted to get took three times as long, then the program finally locked up! (But might as well grit and bear it now...after a couple of "do you want to's" the update message turns to a "do it or close program".) SU6 has now gone from a sometimes bitter disappointment to an often gnashing insult.
Google: please give me something near as good as SU5...please!

Gee Tom,
That's being a bit negative.
But if you have been having trouble with the latest update...well just put it all aside and fix your gaze on something that just everyone of us has been hanging out for....Its..its the Style Builder!!!! [er...its beta, but that's OK....every thing Google puts out is beta..yeah and it's free as well]
There are some negative people out there who would say that we have enough styles already and that they rarely use what there are anyway..but don't listen to them...this is a major breakthrough!....[and hopefully the guy who was busy doing this can now be swung back to helping putting out the next service release....which maybe wont suck quite as much as this time!]

Hi,
The release notes are tucked away here but it's extraordinary and inexcusable to force the upgrade through a dialogue box with no text or explanation.
To forewarn, if I open SketchUp this morning I see this dialogue, if I click on either 'DownLoad Now' or the Red X SketchUp closes. There seems to be no way past it - except maybe cutting off my internet connection . . .

Hi,
The download from the link there is 6.4.112 - as are the actual release notes. Looks like they haven't updated all the version numbers on the pages yet.
Bob
PS The new release installed and ran without problem for me (so far at least).

A forced upgrade that doesn't even have the correct release notes on the site it directs you to is inexcusable. It means you MUST upgrade if you want to use SketchUp Pro 6 AND be connected to the internet...
I suspect that Google doesn't have any hidden motives in doing this - it's some inept dork must have written some code wrong... BUT 'they' have responsibilty for their products and services. This level of ineptitude is pretty worrying. Google as a company expect us to trust them with our potentially sensitive personal data, BUT they can't get a simple upgrade tool right - when will it come out that something far worse has happened... This has echoes of the UK's Tax Dept losing unencrypted CDs 'in the post' that contained the names, addresses, bank account details etc of almost half the UK's population - including millions of vulnerable children - and they bang on indentity theft, ID-cards to 'protect' us from the terrorists, and about their 'data protection act' laws etc, BUT they can't keep our details safe by using basic common sense !
Google MUST buck up OR loose our confidence completely - it's already dented !

the download in the link posted above does have the update and as TIG said the release notes are not updated yet.. and it installed fine for me
tom.. do u have a recurring problem with the new update as such? can it be reproduced???

.
Watching this 54mb monster download reminded me of the magic of the original SkUps at 1/5th the size. One still faintly feels the magic of that once simple and intuitive original, but it is sadly being buried alive...Wonder what Brad and the rest of the old gang are up to now? Probably under some gag order...
Oh well,

I don't know guys, I just had the "regular" update information:
-
This is a horrible tactic from Google. I will CHOOSE when i update my sotware. I like to ensure it is stable first and often leave it to hear feedback from other users (on all software not just SU) I've sat here this morning trying despirately to find out how to work around this and have subsequently resorted to working offline to get my work done.
The lack of preparation highlighted by others here also shows a complete lack of understanding of how to respect your users. VERY poor from somebody like Google.
Shocking move and one that @last would never have agreed to.

Thanks to GSU Team!
When i working with acad 2008(i don`t know, something changes my profile, not stable...)and change autosave function to 2007 version. So i can open 2007 acad dwgs!!!!Maybe will be rel.notes about minor bugfixes?
-
I can´t use SketchUp more! i donwload the update but i can´t install it!
-
Daniel it's like broken archive, uncorreted filesize...i think need to re-download it...
or ask solution to Brad -
I've already sent an email to Brad.
Guys, please, be patient a bit - I'm sure they're going to fix this soon. And thanks for all this input here (this is what makes this community such a great resource for the SUTeam, I guess )

Yesterday I also had to choose between updating or closing SU, I didn't even think of working offline, so I updated. Luckily so far I haven't notice any problems but being that this was basically a "forced" upgrade (bad decision), I wonder if myself and other users find this new version problematic, if we can "downgrade" to the previous version?

I agree, I'm not happy with a forced update.
I like to decide when /if I upgrade.

i tihnk a forced update is fine for tihngs like this, mostly bug fixes etc, but onyl when it works! seeing as it obviously isn't for a lot of ppl i tihnk they should pull the upgrade and get it working properly before they let people download it again.

Hi Guys, we're looking into the problem. The upgrade was/is intended to be a choice just like all earlier upgrades.
We will get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.
We still are the AtLast guys, we still deeply care about you and your user experience, and consider how any/every change affects you. Please do not take a problem with the updater as any indication of our dedication to you as Google. Unforeseen problems do occur, and we will figure this out as soon as we can.
Thanks for your patience!
Cheers,

Not cool Google!
Now that my heart is started again. Came in this weekend to finish a presentation for monday AM. The forced download was a new one, only the first 2 times i tried to run it i only had options to repair modify or remove sketchup. Ran the repair option and still had the forced update when i restarted. Freaked out at that point and uninstalled sketchup and eventally rolled back windows a few days. Still no love. Third time was the charm. Thank goodness for this forum. I was about to haul our IT guy out of bed. hehe.
