this forum is great! no doubt about it.. the only thing that depresses me about the old forum shutting down is that I got a good amount of work through it so hopefully google puts back a 'job board' that is somehow linked back to the main sketchup page..
amen to that!

Here in London we have a similar system in place now through a planning portal. We can get most forms by email and send documentation in either PDF or DXF to local councils who are participating. It has helped speed things up and streamlined the system a little bit.
until you get a phone call a week down the line asking for paper copies becuase the Council plotter is broken!!! (i joke not)
The only benefit to the architect is a saving in paper and ink. The Council prints off 6 copies when they receive them anyway. In the words of most planners "i can't work from PDFs, i like to see hard copies".
I've found the whole process of the planning portal to be completely above and beyond the comprehension of most LAs
Just thought i'd add a few more details in light of krisidious Challenge thread to make a complete section. This is actually my Uni project from a few years back which i decided to piece together in one complete detail.
Hi Guys, thanks for the nice comments
Afraid I cannot post up the entire model as it was produced specifcally for a client. I have attached the grass below for those who wish to use it......a word or advice though, make sure it is the last thing you add to the model as it is VERY heavy, check out the file size!!! its probably not that useful for large scale modelling but helps to add an element of realism.
This one was at the roof junction. There were a number of finer elements to this detail which proved quite time consuming, still enjoyable though
A variation on the first detail, this time by the beach!!! (the colour choice wasn't mine )
Really impressed with you guys at SketchUcation for stepping up and providing us with a platform to continue or conversations
Thought i would post up some of my private work as i've been going through my PC and achiving my older projects.
These images were completed last year for a client who wanted his companies standard details modelled in 3D. All work completed in Sketchup
Hope you like
Andrew

This is a horrible tactic from Google. I will CHOOSE when i update my sotware. I like to ensure it is stable first and often leave it to hear feedback from other users (on all software not just SU) I've sat here this morning trying despirately to find out how to work around this and have subsequently resorted to working offline to get my work done.
The lack of preparation highlighted by others here also shows a complete lack of understanding of how to respect your users. VERY poor from somebody like Google.
Shocking move and one that @last would never have agreed to.
