Yafray Render
-
Hey guys,
I'm new to the SketchUp forum and wanted to export a sketchup file to blender because I love to use blender as well. I downloaded the .lwo exporter and blender won't open it. Is it supposed to? I thought blender was only supposed to open .blend files and such.
if there is an exporter from sketchup to blender and someone could help me it would be much appreciated. -
Ok SpaceCow, try to import the lwo as in the image below.
-
My sun energy is set to 1.0 the default. Yafray settings for the most
recent renders are below.
-
And don't forget the sky color. No HDR's. This settings should work for any
exteriors.

Thanks dave!!!!

Trying out some lanterns from Google 3D Warehouse. Modified a bit.
Needs white frosted glass.

Could you use some bumpmaps on those walls? They are great but that would spice up the whole picture big time!
-
Coming along great, some ground textures would make it 'POP' nicely.
-
More bump to walls and floor. Slows processor legs to a crawl. Might need a larger
cement slab and door.
-
May slow it down to the speed of snot...but it looks great!

Yes, definitely better. That close-up wall is just nice!

Here's another render. Im trying to calibrate the correct colors on
the large cube, but unsuccessfull. The cube has a material color set
to (0.8 0.8 0.8). Im trying to use this person's renders as a gauge.http://www.evermotion.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=63326

Added another cube to scene. Sun and sky setting are about right.
-
It's really coming together very well, it's amazing after a project like this how much one learns.
With the increased realism and path towards scenes like the one you linked above a few previously accepted components like the angular rocks start to stand out, is there any way you can soften or replace them with more freeform ones?great work.
-
Thanks Solo,
Ive been think of working on the rocks, but textured UV'S from SU are
not exported correctly into blender or imported correctly into blender
with the python script that blender uses. It makes a big mess with
any textures including the tree textures. Don't know what my next step will
be. -

Some people say they are addicted to rendering, but i have hangovers and
regrets with the renders i did yesterday. -
Hi There,
The pictures looks nice and the way they were enhanced are nice too ,,
I have question though regarding exporting from Skethup to Blender ... HOW TO? and what is required to do so?
I'm using Apple platform MAC OSX on a PowerPC G5 ... so what I need to knowPlease I need a quick reply .. because I have to submit my term project to my instructor soon ... and I'm thinking of submitting a rendered images too along with the main design (2D plans, Sections) then I'm going also to post it here too in this forum in the gallery section.
Please I'll appreciate any reply on my email also just to save time since I check it always

David,
As opposed to using Yafray, have you done anything with Blender's own node-based rendering system? That's on my list to try, when I can afford to experiment with something out-of-the-ordinary, just because it is such an unusual way to set up post-processing before actually rendering...I recently read the Blender manual chapter on it. I like the possibility of setting it up so that some--but not all--items in the final result might be rendered non-photorealistically with edges and so forth.
