Animator Play Button

It would be neat if there as a way to play an Animator animation without opening the Animator tool.
For the time being, there is a Player, which just controls the animation.
I had also the plan to develop the Visit Controller, allowing to develop individual animations. This is the 3rd button, not yet implemented.

Thanks for the reply Fredo. Since the idea here was for the ability to play an animation during a presentation, it needs to be a simple button. The idea here is something similar to the convince of a dynamic component.
My laptop died so I can not go test things but I thought each clip you develop with Animator could be named. If that is true, then t was thinking of the ability for a “button”/hot spot that would trigger the clip(‘s). On the same theory as dynamic components, it would be neat if the first click played the clip and the second click reversed the clip.
Bottom line, I think we need the ability to use Animatot to build something that works like dynamic components. Again, the goal here is to use the capability to take advantage of the great abilities of Animator to develop animations that can be used when giving presentations instead of creating videos. Hope this makes sense.

Perhaps there could be a method to link an animation to a scene so that it runs when the scene is activated.

Yes, I forgot to mention that in my long dialog but I also know from giving many presentations over many years that you also need the ability to repeat things from time to time. I also forgot to mention that is the animation is long or complicated you will also need the abilities to pause and/or control the speed sometimes.
Is this getting out of control?

OK, after some feedback from SU, I am wondering if there is anyway you could have access to this in the LayOut viewer?
Sorry for the delay in responding. I like where you are headed with this. Now for some questions:
- Is it possible to control the visibility/availability at the scene level (like control it with a tag)?
- Could you have multiple animations available? Let’s say that the box with the animation name could be a drop dow or scrollable list of available animations. Again perhaps a way to control the list via tags or some other method.
Again, after looking at your controls, I think you have this headed in the right direction. I wish their was a way you could activate this in an environment where you are making a presentation of a model. I would love to be able to help you/test it but since I do not currently have access to SU I will have to just see where it goes.

Just curious - any update feedback on this topic?

Currently there is no interactive API in Layout that would allow to run anything by script.

I am not sure I understand. For animator, Scenes are simply the source for cameras. So you can control the visibility like for any other camera.

In a given model (skp file) you can create several animations (called films) and even insert a film in other films, or create a film by aggregating films. These films are independent, but may refer to the same objects and share clips and sequences.

Thanks Fredo, that is what I thought on all aspects.
In my car wash animations in the past they often were at multi layers. I also remember showing someone before Ho to animated a person walking along a path. Again, this involved multinational levels so that you could show all of the leg and arm movements as the character walked the path.
Wish there was a way to provide animations during a presentation other that via a movie or switching between the presentation software and SU itself. That can be very distracting for the audience. For now your, Play icon/button will be the best solution.

OK guys, here is a perfect example of what I would like to see when presenting a SU model. Interactive Watch Presentation
I was not able to determine what software was used but it is what I was trying to encourage. Imagine being able to enable this type of interactivity in LayOut presentation mode, PowerPoint, or some other presentation tool. It would even be beat to achieve this interactivity on a web site (which this guy has already figured out).
Yes, I am a senior citizen without a computer to work on this stuff but I am currently obsessed with finding out how to achieve this and sharing it with/making it available to the SketchUcation community. Fredo, with your talent and expertise you should be able to come up with something.
