Like you and many others, I am (privately!) also going with 2017 Make. Everything I do for the joy of modelling with SkUp, everything I post here or elsewhere, everything I share in the 3D Warehouse is created with this version.
At least the models that were created and uploaded with SU 2017 remain downloadable in this version format. So I hope that as many users as possible at least save down their models before they post their models there!

My uploaded models are also still there, but outside of that, there are no models anywhere else on in the warehouse with versions under 2019. There are some Collada files. But so many assets are just gone.
I've also noticed SketchUp went to a subscription model. I already knew Make was long gone. I looks like they may still have a stand-alone desktop version, but it's not very clear on their website. And at their prices, I'm will not be upgrading.
So in the future I'm moving away from SketchUp. I have no choice. I can no longer afford it so it's now a dead end for me.
And just as I got really good at it.

Broadening your horizons is a good thing. You have a firm foundation to build upon so look at it as an opportunity!
SketchUp is a tool. You eventually need a toolbox to carry all the tools you acquire
As long as you can export to a variety of 3D file formats. You have interoperability with whatever new tools you choose to master....

SketchUp has definitely given me a firm foundation for 3D. I will always appreciate that.
It will be a while before I move on. Maybe another year at least. I have to start with upgrading my PC. It's obsolete. No more updates of any kind are available for it and haven't been available for a few years now.
So until then, I'll still use SketchUp. So glad I had time to crank out all the work I have in the past year.

If I can help with translation I am happy to do so, 2021 still saves back to V3 going by the save as dialogue box.

Bryan, you use 2017 Make which is free for non commercial use and is still freely available to download from Sketchup at no cost.
The 3d warehouse still supplies collada files for all the models which can be opened in any version of sketchup.Your comment

suggests to me that you are ahead on the deal.
And apart from not being able to download directly into your models from the warehouse but have to download and open to import into your model, nothing has changed for you. -

Yes, I am still ahead, but I can see the end coming. I really love SketchUp.

Well it seems as if the Competent import loophole is being closed as well. Fewer and fewer files are available for download for 2017 through Components.
I also do not understand the new pricing and product. Do any of the new products still include a fully functional desktop application? And if so, can I still use all the plug-ins I have collected?
Trimble has made this far more complicated than it should be and I fear they have hurt themselves in the long run.
If I cannot have a fully functional stand alone desktop application, and one that I do not have to subscribe to every year, I will have to abandon SketchUp.
I do not mind paying a one time license if I eventually have to, but I must have a desktop version. But if it's the price of a new computer, I will just buy a new computer and use a free product like Blender.
