I have hit a serious slump
-
I've hit a serious slump and I don't know why. I want to model many things, but can't seem to follow through.
Anyone have any suggestions?

If your problem is follow through you should break a complex modeling task into smaller manageable sub sections. In other words if your planning on modeling an entire city you should start with one building and move out from there. Also take advantage of components whenever possible. They cut down on repetative modeling tremendously. Good luck on your modeling.

Motivation can be hard to find sometimes. When I hit a slump I go and do something else for a while, feed the birds or take a walk, anything to do something else for a while and give my mind time to work out whatever problem is at the back of my mind. Listening to good music and reading a book is also good. Terry Pratchett makes me laugh till I turn blue for example and is a good antidote to the news reports lately. Being a Trekkie and appreciating the latest series of films I only have to watch a certain amount of the first, I get to numb tongue and whatever I see after that is a bonus. I know but we all have something.

Since we do not have a perspective on why you are stuck any suggestion as to what do do about it may or not be appropriate. My suggestion would be to write a brief (to Self) requiring that you pick one your projects, outline what you want to achieve and a deadline. And see what happens. Good luck with the drought mate

Best to draw something on paper then turn it to 3D. Exercise unused muscles.
It could be a character or object or anything. Just get something down on pen and pad.
That might fire the brain into making it into a digital masterpiece.
Failing that try another app. That will also cause to look at SketchUp from a different view.

Relax you with this crazzy free Verve! (painting with Dynamical Fluids)
Only for PC (but i see that you have W10 so perfect)
Of course you can make also classical things with it!

Model something completely different, challenge yourself. I love all things Scify, so when I get time to play I usually model silly scify vehicles based on images online.

Great ideas! Then there's the occasional modeling challenge/competition. SketchUp has one going now.

Thanks everyone!
