I Purged your 14Mb monster SKP down to 2Mb !
It exported as a DWG in a few seconds.
Attached are the reduced SKP, DWG and Purge log...

          But I still can't export a 2D .dwg ?

By the way, I'm loving the sticky out tongue tiger 😄

I actually used my own 'Purge All' tool - it gives you a log report if you want...
            http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=PurgeAll
Although it's not yet been [re]signed, it will work OK in >=v2016 in unrestricted loading-policies...[mod=:1f935uzs]It's now signed !
            http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=616482#p616482[/mod:1f935uzs]

The SKP works fine for me making the DWG.
I assume that DWG is sufficient for your needs at the moment.

However, your issue suggests some other problems...
            Try the following.
            Close SketchUp.
Find the v2017 installer exe file [probably in your Downloads folder - if not re-dowmload a new copy].
Select its icon and right-click > context-menu > "Run as administrator"
            When prompted choose 'Repair'.
            Retry exporting...
            Any improvement ?
If not repeat the above steps [...as admin'] but choose to uninstall, then immediately re-install it.
            Retry...

I am suspecting that the issue is due to an incorrect installation.
Simply double-clicking on the installer icon - even if you have admin powers - is no longer sufficient to properly install most modern applications in the newer Windows OSs...

            Please report back...

Thank you for the tool link 😄

So I've followed your directions and it's still crashing .....

I'm thinking it may be an even bigger issue so I'm going to give the whole PC a re-format first thing tomorrow.

Is there any chance you would be able to possibly export me a 2D version of the file in .dwg - I would be eternally grateful !

A 2d dwg version will loose all layering etc.
Is that what you really want ?
It might be what's taking the time...
It's taking ages for me !!

Why do you need a 2d dwg ?

It's so that I can change the line weights etc ..... or is there a way to create a 2D in CAD so you can't see through the walls ?

I don't really know how to use 3D CAD to be honest, I've only ever used 2D.

My 2d export is still running, so I suspect that's your issue !
As you have Pro why not bring the SKP's view [saved as a Scene-tab!] into a Layout page [set up your Layout document to the desired paper-size etc...
Then you can perhaps over-draw edges to make them heavier etc.
Since we don't know your exact final desired result, then we are guessing here !

                      I scrapped the 2d dwg !
Here's a 3d dwg but with just edges [no faces] as set in the exporter's options...

                        What ?
                        Please consider Layout for this...

                            I've popped a PDF up.

Can layout do line weights ?

                              Yes.
You can draw over edges, or copy edges and paste into layout and change their thickness/color etc...
It seems you are at the start of your journey... e.g.
                              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnHrdUCenzs
                              There are dozens of examples...

What I do is that I use Tig´s Section Cut Face on my model then export 2 scenes from Layout:
                                1 - Sectioned model view;
2 - Section cut face scene with same camera as 1 but model is hidden.

In layout I overlapp the two scenes where 2 is on top of 1.

Then I can have lineweights for 1, different than 2 and still update the 2D drawing on the fly as I work on the model.

I also add details to the section cut face, for construction detailing.

When finished, if needed, I export to dwg from Layout.
