Here is the final. Modern digital phone booth. Touch screen, credit card reader, standard phone keypad. USB plugs for laptop and phone, regular power plugs, and camera for video calls. To be mounted on walls. First image is a single booth and second image is two booths back to back.

Click on pictures for sharper images. Size is limited by the hobby/demo version of the render, Raylectron.

The shroud is either glass, plastic or acrylic and is speckled throughout the material itself for semi privacy. The interior surface also has small bits of felt that are the same color and size as the speckles that are randomly glued to the surface to act as sound absorption in combination with the acoustic tiles on the wall side.

I'd darken that glass a bit. Doesn't offer true privacy.

But I like the concept πŸ‘

That's a clever approach! I would have a little concern of people picking at them through when on calls!

Yeah, I fiddled around with the glass, but the renderer wasn't doing quite what I wanted it to do. I think the speckling was giving it fits.

Cool idea Bryan. Is this a concept or is this something that will really be built?

                      Thanks!

Old concept. Something I literally designed in the last century. I've got plenty more. It's the biggest reason I've learned 3D at all. To create my ideas that only exist as drawings and maybe one day get built. (before I die of old age would be nice)

Thanks! I may do that. I was also thinking about different sound baffles patterns as well.

πŸ‘ I like your idea also Bryan - this could be good also as an internal equipment at stations, airports, public libraries etc. - could be a folding chair(?) still an additional feature, somewhere mounted at your acoustic wall?

                                        Love the concept.

However, (isn't there always a however!) unless it is placed in a secure/monitored environment I would have a concern about someone stealing the monitor (and any other equipment that is not securely locked down).

You have made me think a little more about a silly idea I have had before about a "business friendly" restaurant. I would set up some cubicles whit a monitor, cable connections and electrical outlets so that you could conducts meetings with space for anywhere from 2 to about 12 people.

Again, really like the concept of what you have put together.

                                          Thanks Dave!

The monitor actually sits behind another layer of clear glass/plastic/whatever that is the top layer of that entire wall. The number pad itself is old school payphone industrial strength and all the sockets (USB and power) are outdoor industrial strength as well.

Cool idea about the restaurant. I really think we should bring back small, enclosed privacy booths of some kind for public places so we can make phone calls without all the ambient noise. Those were a good idea that unfortunately fell out of fashion.

This design is a compromise of that idea and meant for indoor public place like lobbies and stations.
