SubD examples and models

Ocean spheric box!

What about a sub-d Icon competition?
Or one step further - a Plugin/extension Icon Competition? -
Just a quick example of how the exact same tools can produce such different objects from a cube.
-
i'd like to see the proxy of that shape!
are you testing SUbD v2?
-
Nope, not testing V2.
There isn't really a proxy anymore, I have SUbD'd, modified and SUbD'd again, then squashed and stretched what was left. It remains a solid but, but is nolonger a SUbD object.
I've used SUbD as one tool amongst several.
As you can see here, some of the quads have torn.

As promised, I am showing you the 3D printed boat made by this design: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=397%26amp;t=63826%26amp;start=720#p610727
boat model was made for a friend who printed it. Not the best printing quality, but it gets improved.
But, the best part is that it does float on the right side !

Wow! Great details and seamless textures! Good attention to direction of materials as well. Did you use WrapR and Substance by any chance?
Do you have a view of the original control-mesh?
-
Thank you. Yes, I tried to WrapR, but so far I will get with the help of SketchUV and UVlayout. I tried and Substance Painter, but anything worthwhile is unfortunately not yet happened (
