Here's a little example of how I did the colours. Not the same model but a similar process.

A very quick render for reference.

"Soften" is a custom toolbar or an available plugin?

It's a plugin Cotty, one I always use.
It's ancestry is a bit muddled, but you'll find it in the store as Soften/Unsoften by CadFather.
I'm very happy to point it out for you as a thankyou for showing me Anton's Fixit101 a long time back.

Here's a bit of fun, a woven chinese finger trap.
Fully solid model. I might see how well it prints later.

That's for sure. Amazing tool compared with the more known ones.

Do you have a SketchUp view of the control mesh for that one?

I do, but it's pretty simple. I can add it later, if you really want it, as it's at home and I'm now in the pub.

                                  UV mapping in Wrap-R?

No, by using quad face tools I easily selected the edges to create the various faces and manually painted them with the old bucket. So the colours are actual geometry.

Would you like to test WrapR?

To be honest, as I have no real interest in rendering, it's not high on my list, but if you want a non visualiser to have a go with it I'm all for it.

Ok, but I still think it's a bit too simple to be of interest.
