Is there any way to save toolbar setups so that i can have multiple computers easily have the same setup in sketchup? i cant find any solution and i routinely work on several different machines. would love to have the sketchup plugins and toolbar layout always the same and up to date with each other.

ive seen a post about using dropbox to place ALL plugins as a way of having the same plugins load on multiple computers, as long as the plugin folder is pointing to dropbox.

i may try this. anyone use this method now?

how about saving and loading toolbar setups?

    thanks,
    bob

You can use the Sketchucation Plugin Store to create and manage bundles of plugins so you can have identical plugin installations between machines. There isn't any way to export toolbar locations from one SU install to another but once you set them up, you shouldn't have to change them. When I need to set up another machine with my toolbar locations, I make a screen shot of the first and import that as an image into the other SU installation so I have it as a reference while setting up the toolbars.

oh great. i was not aware of that functionality. do you recommend that over the dropbox method?

yeah, i have used a screen shot too. sure wish there was a ui file to save and load. oh well. thanks for the quick response!

Yes. the SCF Plugin Store tool is a much better way to manage your plugins. Besides, it gives you direct access to hundreds of plugins/extensions and auto installs them. Dropbox won't do that for you.

One small thing to note, Plugins from other sources won't be included in Bundles. It can only recognise ones you have downloaded through the Sketchcation tool.

You'll find a handy tutorial for bundles here.

there are several threads on this issue now and i just realized i never posted my solution to using dropbox as a source for plugins to enable synchronization between multiple machines.

i have it listed in detail here:

Or you can create a plugin bundle using the SCF Plugin Store tool and use that to synchronize plugins between computers and automatically install the plugins as needed. AND you can use it to check for updated plugins, create customized load sets and more.

Dave, is there still an issue with that not working with plugins from other sources?
