I have a model which was created by SU 8 Pro. This week I got SU update to 2013 version.

Problem comes that I can't open this file (see attachment) from SU 2013, but SU 8 Pro can open that.

Totally I have another two files in the same case.

Can anyone let me know what part is wrong? I was planning to uninstall SU 8 Pro then use only SU 2013. But now I have to keep both of them.

      Any hint would be appreciated.

Thanks. Might be an indication of a bug in SU 2013 since SU 8 can open it. Here's the crash details:

OH MY! Thanks so much GUS! you saved my work. can't say more thanks on the solution. It works!

Hooray! my another two larger files (more than 25m in size) with same problems are back after I change material into pure white and re-save in SU8.

didn't expect at all the texture is the root.

                  Thanks again!

Thanks for posting this. I've submitted the model and the materials as a bug to be fixed.

It is the dark wood material that is actually causing the problem. Do you know anything about that jpg or how it was created?

That wood texture is a nasty piece of work. Just trying to open it in an image editor was enough to freeze my laptop...had to do a forced reboot.

Was causing an APPCRASH on my SU Make (SU 2013). Went into the skp file in SU 8 and re-saved each of the material jpgs in PS. Re-opened in SU Make and all is well. Something is wrong with one of your material texture images. Here's the new file or you can try re-saving them yourself.

Edit Note: for some odd reason the wood material texture picked up the stainless steel material texture. Replaced skp file.

Hmmm... I don't like hearing that 2013 is having trouble opening a SU 8 file. In this case, however, I know why. SketchUp 2013 has an entirely new image handling library with all the latest format-specific libraries compiled in. In general, these updated libraries are much more strict about handling images (for security reasons). That said, I really wish we were handling the image rejecting properly and not crashing. We'll set up a unit test with this texture and see if we can get a fix in place.

                          Thanks,
                          Tyler

Yes, you are right. That dark wood texture pic was downloaded from Internet. Then I screetshot part of it to use as surface texture in my model.
