Can't find the thread, but look for Cabinet Sense here somewhere. It's a great way to build cabinets with Sketchup. It'll give you all the cutlists you need.

Too lazy to read all the posts. Did you get your answer? If not, when you create a cabinet panel as a component, select glue to "any". Then when you insert or move a component it will snap to another.

Thanks for the replies. After I made my post last night I found the Sketchup For Dummies videos on boobtube. After watching about 2 hours of video I learned the trick of grabbing the board by the corner and mating it with the corner you want it to touch to get perfect alignment. On parts that dont have a corner, I learned to use the measuring tape to make a mark and then match the corner to the mark.
I was able to get my cabinet together. I need to figure out my doors now, but I have it completed.
I am not sure if this is the place, but I would like to upload it here to get opinions of the way I did it. Not of the construction itself, but of the way I used sketchup.
Let me know if I can do that here.

You can indeed upload your models here and I'm sure a number of folks would be happy to take a look and offer constructive suggestions.
"in situ" means in place. If you looked at the videos I liked to, you'll see that I use that method when I draw furniture. In the case of the fern stand, after drawing the leg component, copying it and placing the copies every other part is draw in situ using the parts that are already drawn as references. As I said, this helps to reduce errors. It also eliminates the need to know a lot of dimensions ahead of time. Again, using the fern stand example, after the legs are in place, the aprons need to be drawn to fit. Beyond that, I don't really care how long they are until I'm ready to make the cutlist and then I have SketchUp tell me how long they are.
If you don't follow that method but rather draw the parts separately, you will need to know or figure out all of the dimensions of every part. This is more time consuming and more prone to errors.

I will have to try everything in place my next time round, but this time, I already had everything on paper, and I wanted to do this to find and correct any measurement errors i had, which I did find some and was able to correct them... Now all I need to do is go to the store and buy all the materials I need and get to work. I didnt find any hinge or knob tools so I just put the doors in place and made a knob on the door before copying it.
Tell me what you all think of it, and how I could have done it better and or easier.

One thing that came to mind is make sure you have snapping turned off, this maybe a contributor to problems depending on how you are handling inferencing -
Overall your model looks pretty good. I didn't check it in real detail but it's not bad.
As to hinges and knobs, you can likely find those on the 3D Warehouse. Open Window>Components and where you see the word Google, search for 'hinge' or 'knob.'

After I saved the cabinet file last night, I closed out SU, and today I opened it to make a few attempted modifications, but when i told it to open the file, it tells me that the file is locked by another user and asks if I would like to open it in read only format.... How do I open it back up where I can have full control of it? and why is it doing this? is this because I didnt "log" into google and sign it?

The message results from control of your model by another application or user. Are you sure that you closed SU? Look at your start bar to see if there is another instance of SU open. If none, and you are on a network, someone else may have the model open. If not, perhaps rebooting may help.
If you answer yes to the message, and open to read only the model, you can "still as" any modifications you make to it by changing its name.

No one else on my network... no other SK was opened. it may have stayed open in the processes... rebooted and it opened fine.

A reboot! - that usually works...
If it doesn't [which rarely happens - just now and again] there are free tools - 'unlock[er]' - that will force the system to release the file that's messed up - although sometimes it might require a restart anyway...
Be wary as many 'unlock[er]' related downloads are loaded with Malware - but this one seems OK http://emcosoftware.com/products/unlock-it/download.php
