Not sure if I installed this correct I am using 2013 and well I followed all the steps and everything and it still didnt work what am I doing wrong here is the picture on windows 7 seems people are having a hard time with these scripts. Got a better Idea maybe everyone will enjoy this one also but why not put it automaticaly on the sketchup Plugin Extention for Sketchup 2013 that way it automaticaly installs it and also makes it so we can use it instead of going threw the hassle of it, think that was the reason why teh sketchup team decided to do that so non techi's liek myself dont haev to go threw this hassle

There is the 'SketchUcation Plugin Store' toolset that allows you to AutoInstall it [and hundreds of other plugins/helperstoo]; if you don't have permissions to write to your Plugins folder it should tell you...
There are several reasons that you might have issues with manually installing plugins.
It might be a user doesn't understand how a ZIP or a RBZ archive works, and so they mis-installs that file instead of its contents.
Or the archives contents are manually extracted without keeping the subfolders of files intact.
Or they don't use the built-in installer button for RBZ archives available in Preferences > Extensions.
OR even when they get it right they do not have sufficient security permissions to write folders/files into their Plugins folder [it might look like you have installed the files but Windows can secretly move them into a VirtualStore folder to save-you-from-yourself! Having a link/button named something like 'Compatibility Files...' showing in any folder's window in Windows-Explorer is a sign of this having happened] - if you have recently installed v2013 and have not changed your permissions for the Plugins folder that would be my 'suspect number one' ! By default any folders made in the Windows 'Program Files' tree have limited security permissions to ALL users, even if you are an admin, it doesn't help as ALL users are limited. To fix this - with admin powers [IF you are not one give yourself those powers under the 'Users' Control Panel before continuing...] select the ../SketchUp../Plugins folder's icon and right-click > context-menu > Properties > Security > Edit... and give everyone in the list FULL permissions [tick their top check-boxes] and apply/ok to complete the changes [While you are at it do the same for the Components, Materials and Styles folders as you might want to write to those from time to time too...]. Now you should be able to add subfolders and files to the Plugins folder manually, or much much easier use the readily available AutoInstall features too... -

Hello,
I know there is already a post on this topic, but it is a little advanced for this Newbie! This is my first attempt at downloading a plugin.
I am running Mac OSX and downloaded FredoScale into the appropriate folder - Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup 8/Sketchup/Plugins.I also downloaded the LibFredo6 application (the accompanying software). I restarted my computer and sketch up and a new Ruby Console options appeared under windows, but I can't find the plugin.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! It is probably something obvious, but I don't know where else to look.
I am also super excited to try this tool!
Thanks...

If all you did was download and save the files into the Plugins folder, you didn't install them. You're right, this has been covered before. Many times. The link to FredoScale is for a ZIP file. You need to extract the contents of the ZIP file. You should wind up with a folder called FredoScale... When you download the LibFredo files you'll get either a ZIP file or the RBZ file depending upon the link you've clicked on. If you got the ZIP file, extract the contents making sure to respect and maintain the file structure. If you got the RBZ file, install it by going to Preferences>Extensions and click on Install Extension... Navigate to the location in which you saved the RBZ file, select it and click Open.
It would be easier in the future if you install the Sketchucation Plugin Store, linked above, and auto-install plugins after that.

NEW RELEASE: FredoScale v2.4a - 22 Aug 13
FredoScale 2.4 is a technical release that implements naming conventions for files and folders to be compliant with EWH requirements. Otherwise there is no functional changes in this release.
FredoScale 2.4 requires LibFredo6 5.1 or higher.
The footprint for FredoScale is based on one file and one subfolder:
It is also a good idea to clean up your plugin directory and remove the older versions.
In the menu Windows > LibFredo6 Settings...> Purge Obsolete Files, you will find a dialog box allowing to remove all or some of these older versions.
See main post of this thread for Download.

Does anyone else have sketchup crash completely when using the scale/stretch tool on groups that contain groups? I always use extensive grouping so that I can take my models into 3ds max, and this tool would undoubtedly speed up my workflow - but keeps crashing sketchup.
This may be related to the big issues of "freshly copied groups".
In your case, was one of the group a copy of another one (you should see "2 instances" in the Entity Info Window.
If this is the case, then FredoScale needs some evolutions. I have done it on Curvizard.
As a workaround for complex hirearchy of groups and components, try to perform a Make Unique before [highlight=#ffff80:1qv24jnd](Make Unique is also part of FredoScale).[/highlight:1qv24jnd]
Fredo
I didn't understand that bit about Make Unique being part of fredoscale.
Is there a hidden option in FredoScale command that allows me to make the group unique?
(I work with groups within groups within groups within.. with a smattering of components thrown in the mix and copies of them all floating all over my models, all the time and could never use fredoStretch as it gives a splat.)
Or alternately is there a way to make the copied 'group' unique? Components I know, groups I don't know how to make unique.
Cheers,

If you have lots of nested groups that have duplicates try this one-liner, copy+paste+<enter> in the Ruby Console - every group in the model is made unique...
Sketchup.active_model.definitions.each{|d|(d.instances.each{|i|i.make_unique})if d.group? && d.instances[1]}

I know and this is true for all languages.
This is related to the change of naming conventions. I need to republish.
In the meantime, just replace
__Module = FredoScale
by__Module = F6_FredoScale
in the file FredoScale_ZH.langFredo
