Hello I found the raison on the SU PODIUM website ( rendering plugin ) " This is s known (annoying) bug. Don't worry nothing's lost, you just need to rename the skb to skp. It happens when you save when the oopr is opened. Sketchup will only save backup file. To save correctly, close the oopr before saving. " It's working for me now. I hope to help you.

Man, I am glad that worked for you. Although, most likely, it had nothing to do with my suggestion. And then, I see that you are using a Mac, so this would suggest it was not OS related.

No, the selection colour is always the same for all selected objects. It's under the (Window >) styles menu and in the dialog, "in Model" and what is in the screenshot... [image: 04cC_selected.png]

thanks wind-borne for the pointer and muchos thanks to our great coders who once again provide a solution! i may well be overlooking something but this seems like a basic flaw in functionality within SU? i mean, world axes are world axes - if you change them, then everything relating to them should surely change accordingly? discovered this issue recently while working on a site where the buildings don't all have the same orientation. when i tried to produce the usual ortho views of one particular building ... oh oh

Needles to say, we had some great talks. Brodie, a dae file is a simple text file and cannot contain the image textures (only colour references). You must have overlooked something. Generally the dae file is outside the material folder though (but probably this would depend on the exporter itself).

sorry I did not have a workaround. See earlier in the thread as Rich kindly posted the .3ds file which worked perfectly.

I clicked this thread as I knew someone would comment on the thread title! In my opinion it depends where you're from...Different communities use different words, if the word has lost all offensive meaning amongst those people I think it's fine. However using such slang online probably isn't a good idea!

If you're asking about this plugin: http://www.guitar-list.com/download-software/convert-sketchup-skp-files-dxf-or-stl when you save the file, you need to type ".stl" at the end of the name. So "my stl export" --> "my stl export.stl"
